Auliʻi Cravalho returns as the voice of Moana in the animated sequel Moana 2. She reprises the role she voiced in the 2016 film; this is separate from Disney’s live-action Moana, which casts Catherine Lagaʻaia as Moana.
Who returns in Moana 2?
Cravalho voices Moana again, and Dwayne Johnson returns as the voice of Maui. Disney’s official Moana 2 page identifies both performers in the sequel’s voice cast. A Disney project profile dated April 4, 2024 likewise lists them.
The initial confirmation of Cravalho’s return was reported on February 28, 2024. That report is secondary coverage; Disney’s cast listing confirms her role in the finished sequel.
What is the sequel about?
Moana 2 takes place three years after the first film. Moana answers a call from her wayfinding ancestors and journeys into the far seas of Oceania. Disney’s project profile describes this continuation of her story.
