There is no permanent, legal, free MLB live stream that carries every game from every location. You may still watch particular games at no cost through an antenna, an official MLB preview, a free trial, or a subscription you already have. For everything else, the cheapest legal option depends on the game, your ZIP code, your team, and the country where you are watching.
The fastest way to find tonight’s authorized stream is to check the official MLB live-game schedule, enter the ZIP code where you will watch, and follow the listed broadcaster or streaming service.
How to find today’s MLB stream
- Open MLB’s official schedule: mlb.com/live-stream-games.
- Enter your current ZIP code. Use the location where you are actually watching, not your billing address or the location of either team.
- Check the listed broadcaster. The game may be on MLB.TV, FOX, ESPN, TBS, NBC, Peacock, Apple TV, MLB Network, or a regional provider.
- Look for free access. Check antenna availability, official preview events, existing subscriptions, and eligible trials.
- Choose the smallest paid option only if the game is not available legally for free.
This game-by-game approach is more reliable than buying MLB.TV first. MLB.TV is mainly an out-of-market service, and local or nationally exclusive games may be unavailable there.

Free broadcast TV and an antenna
Selected nationally televised games may be available through local FOX or NBC affiliates, depending on your market. An antenna can provide those channels without a recurring streaming bill. Check local reception before buying one.

An antenna does not unlock games carried exclusively by Apple TV, Peacock, ESPN, MLB.TV, or another pay platform. It also does not provide a team’s complete schedule; broadcast networks carry only selected games.
MLB’s 2026 coverage information lists games across FOX, ESPN, TBS, Apple TV, NBC, Peacock, and other partners. The official MLB viewing guide and the daily schedule should control for the specific game.
MLB.TV free previews
MLB occasionally opens selected games to everyone during a promotional preview. For example, MLB promoted a 2026 Rivalry Weekend preview, while excluding games carried exclusively by Apple TV and Peacock.
These events are temporary promotions, not a permanent free tier. Check the official promotion announcement, the game page in the MLB app, and the current MLB schedule before assuming a game is included.
Free trials
A trial can make one game free in practice, but it is not the same as a free MLB service. Before starting one, confirm:
- Whether a payment card is required.
- Whether the offer is limited to new customers.
- Whether it includes the exact channel and game.
- Whether local or national blackouts still apply.
- When billing begins and whether cancellation immediately ends access.
MLB says new MLB.TV subscribers may receive a one-month ESPN Unlimited trial, but offers and renewal terms can change. Read the terms shown at signup on the official MLB.TV page or ESPN’s MLB.TV page.

Access included with an existing subscription
You may already have the necessary access through a traditional pay-TV provider, live-TV bundle, mobile or internet plan, MLB.TV subscription, or network account. Try the listed broadcaster’s app and choose Sign in or Authenticate with TV provider before creating another account.
What MLB.TV does—and does not—include
MLB.TV is designed primarily for fans watching games that are out of market. Its package can include live and on-demand out-of-market games, replays, Big Inning, selected Minor League Baseball content, team audio, and MLB Network programming for eligible subscribers. The precise package and access method depend on the current offer and account.
MLB.TV does not guarantee access to:
- Local games in your home television territory.
- Games subject to national exclusivity.
- Games carried exclusively by Apple TV, Peacock, or another partner.
- Every postseason or special-event broadcast.
- Every game in every country.
In 2026, MLB.TV is distributed through MLB’s digital products and ESPN. That relationship does not remove blackout rules. Check the current purchase flow and the ESPN MLB.TV FAQ before subscribing.
MLB.TV can be a poor choice for a fan whose main team is local. Paying for the service does not necessarily make that team’s home-territory games available.

Apple TV
Apple’s MLB partnership provides a weekly Friday Night Baseball doubleheader and selected exclusive programming. The official team information describes these games as streaming on Apple TV and not subject to local broadcast restrictions. Check the MLB Apple TV information page and the game listing.

Peacock
Peacock’s MLB page lists Sunday Night Baseball, Sunday Leadoff, selected special events, and exclusive Wild Card games. It also warns that territorial blackouts may apply. See the official Peacock MLB page for current programming and plan terms.
Blackouts explained
Home-territory blackouts
A game can be blacked out because you are in the local television territory of one of the teams. MLB says a home-territory restriction may apply even when the game is not actually televised locally. This is why an MLB.TV subscription can show a game on the schedule but provide no live video.
National exclusivity
Some games are unavailable on MLB.TV because another partner has exclusive or special rights. Depending on the game, that partner may be Apple TV, Peacock, ESPN, FOX, FS1, NBC, TBS, or another distributor. The correct destination is the listed rights holder—not automatically MLB.TV.
International availability
“From anywhere” does not mean one U.S. subscription works identically worldwide. Rights differ by country, and a service that carries a game in the United States may not carry it in Canada, the United Kingdom, India, or another market. When traveling, check the country where you are physically located, the local MLB schedule, app availability, and the authorized broadcaster in that country.

A VPN changes the apparent network location, but it does not create a subscription entitlement or guarantee access to a blacked-out game. Streaming services may compare IP address, GPS, billing information, device signals, and account details. Conflicting location data can trigger an error or account review.
Using a VPN to circumvent geographic restrictions may also violate a service’s terms. It can route you to the wrong country’s catalog and may stop working without warning. The safer approach is to use the authorized broadcaster for your actual location.

Cheapest legal option by viewing need
For one game
- Check for a free FOX or NBC broadcast with an antenna.
- Use an existing subscription if it carries the listed network.
- Check for an official MLB preview or eligible trial.
- Consider a single-month platform subscription.
- Do not buy a full-season MLB.TV plan until confirming that the game is not local or exclusive elsewhere.
For one team
Start with the team’s local broadcaster, regional sports network, or eligible local streaming package. Then account for national exclusives separately. A team-focused package may not include games carried exclusively by Apple TV, Peacock, ESPN, or another partner. MLB’s package page says local offers are available only for select clubs and that prices can change.
For several out-of-market teams
MLB.TV is the natural comparison. It is most useful when the games you want are outside your home territory and not nationally exclusive.
For a full season
Compare MLB.TV with a live-TV bundle carrying the main national networks, local or regional packages, and separate Apple TV or Peacock access. No single service should be advertised as a guaranteed source of every live MLB game in every market.
For travel
Check your destination country, local rights, app-store availability, and the subscription’s travel terms. Hotel Wi-Fi, public networks, and cellular connections can also affect location detection. A U.S. subscription does not guarantee identical access abroad.
For audio only
Audio can remain available when video is restricted. MLB’s schedule page says live audio is available for games unavailable on MLB.TV to customers whose subscription includes MLB+. Use the game page to confirm the available audio option.

- Recheck the official MLB schedule and enter your ZIP code again.
- Identify whether the game is local, nationally exclusive, postponed, or assigned to another platform.
- Sign out and back into the account that actually holds the subscription.
- Update the app and confirm location permissions.
- Disable conflicting location tools and verify that your connection reflects your real location.
- Check the broadcaster’s service-status page and official support channel.
The free trial does not show the game
A trial may cover a platform without covering the channel, regional sports network, local territory, or national exclusive you need. Confirm the exact game and blackout status before starting a trial.

MLB.TV shows a replay but not the live game
Live video can remain restricted while an archive becomes available after the game. MLB’s schedule page says game archives are available 90 minutes after the conclusion of games.
The VPN made the app stop working
Return to your actual location, disable the VPN, confirm device location settings, and use the authorized broadcaster listed for that location. Do not rely on a VPN as a blackout workaround.
Why pirate streams are a bad substitute
Unauthorized streaming sites commonly use fake play buttons, aggressive pop-ups, phishing pages, malware, and misleading billing forms. Streams can disappear during the game, and entering an MLB, email, or payment password on an unfamiliar site risks credential theft.
Do not search for a pirate stream when the official schedule can identify the legal broadcaster. Use an antenna, an existing subscription, an official preview, a legitimate trial, or the smallest authorized paid option instead.
