WA Police said the Perth YouTube duo known as MisfitMinds were unlikely to face charges after entering the 2021 AFL Grand Final at Optus Stadium without tickets. Acting Commissioner Col Blanch acknowledged that a technical offence might have occurred, but said prosecution was not in the public interest. That was the police position reported in October 2021—not a court ruling or confirmation of a formal final disposition.
What happened at Optus Stadium?
MisfitMinds posted a video titled “Sneaking into Australia’s Biggest Event,” showing an effort to get into the 2021 AFL Grand Final without buying tickets. The West Australian identified the Perth creators as Seb and Will. Contemporaneous coverage described their use of high-visibility shirts, coloured wristbands and trolleys to stage their entry.
The incident took place at Optus Stadium in Perth. The stunt was documented as a prank video; the reports do not establish that the props or approach represented a legitimate security procedure.
Why did police say charges were unlikely?
On 6 October 2021, PerthNow reported Acting Commissioner Col Blanch’s view that the matter was unlikely to proceed criminally. He said: “Technically there could be an offence there but what is in the public interest here is to make sure that it doesn’t happen again.” Blanch also said, “We can’t endorse it but it’s not something we want to be putting through our court system.”

In other words, police acknowledged a possible technical offence but said the public interest lay in preventing a repeat rather than taking the matter through court. 7NEWS independently reported Blanch’s position that charges were unlikely and that police did not want to put the matter through the court system.
Did a court clear the MisfitMinds pair?
The reports establish what police said at the time: charges were unlikely. They do not establish that a court heard the case, acquitted the pair, or issued a formal finding that no offence occurred. It is therefore more accurate to describe the outcome as a reported police decision not to pursue prosecution than to say the creators were cleared by a court.
