Published profiles describe them as British and recount how the family moved from Spain to the UK, Florida and Los Angeles as Brown pursued acting. Brown has said her parents backed those moves and that she still consults them on career decisions.
Who are Robert and Kelly Brown?
Vanity Fair identifies Robert and Kelly Brown as Millie Bobby Brown’s parents and describes them as British. Its profile says Robert worked in real estate and Kelly was a stay-at-home parent during the period it covers. Those descriptions are snapshots, not complete career histories or confirmation of their current work. Vanity Fair’s profile does not establish their present occupations.
Brown has recalled a different detail about her father’s working life: in a SmartLess interview transcript hosted by Podscripts, she said he worked at a fruit-and-vegetable market for much of his life. The accounts need not conflict; they may refer to different periods or work. The transcript is Brown’s recollection, rather than a comprehensive employment record. Read the SmartLess transcript.
Where did the family live?
Vanity Fair reports that Brown was born in Marbella, Spain, after her parents moved there to be near Robert’s parents. The family later returned to the UK and then moved to Florida. Brown has said they went from England to Orlando when she was eight; Vanity Fair also places the Orlando move when she was eight. Vanity Fair and Brown’s SmartLess recollection describe parts of that chronology.

In Orlando, the family started a teeth-whitening business, according to Vanity Fair. As Brown’s acting ambitions developed, the family moved to Los Angeles. Brown has described asking to go there to pursue acting; in her account, her father agreed to leave the following week. In the SmartLess transcript, she recalls the family packing the car and driving from Orlando without a settled home or plan.
The family later returned to the UK after they could no longer afford to remain in Los Angeles, according to the profiles and Brown’s recollections. Vanity Fair says that after the return, her parents urged her to make an audition tape for Stranger Things when she was close to giving up hope. British Vogue recounts that her father accompanied her to the final audition and that she got the role on the day she was due to fly home. These are reported episodes from Brown’s account of the family’s support, not a full record of their private finances or decisions. Vanity Fair; British Vogue.
