In interviews, she has acknowledged she was young while describing why the decision felt right to her; her account is personal, not advice about when other couples should marry.
What Brown said made her feel ready
On the March 2025 Call Her Daddy podcast, Brown described being with Bongiovi for roughly four years and said living together helped her picture a future with him. They shared ordinary routines and cared for dogs and other animals. She also said they discussed politics and how they might raise children—subjects she had not previously talked through with boyfriends.
Brown said those conversations made her think she might want to be with him forever. In the podcast transcript, she put it this way: “When we started talking about politics and how we wanna raise our kids and we started talking about really, really bigger things that I’ve never spoken, obviously never spoken about and I’m already very young, so I’ve never spoken about that with boys anyway, but to be able to even think about those things, I was like, shit, okay, maybe I do wanna be with you forever.” The transcript preserves her spoken wording.
Family examples also shaped her perspective
Brown said Bongiovi’s parents were high-school sweethearts and that her own parents met when they were young. She described those family examples as part of the context for their decision, alongside the discussions they had about their relationship and future. Vanity Fair’s interview reports that they talked about political views, the family and home they wanted, their relationship, and their careers.

In that interview, Brown said: “It’s such an important decision, and we wanted to make sure we were making the right one. I knew I was. It always felt right with him.” Speaking to British Vogue, she acknowledged, “I understood I was young – I know that,” and added, “I truly just can’t say it enough: when you meet that person, you know it.” Those are her reflections on her own relationship, not evidence that marrying young is right for everyone.
When Brown and Bongiovi married
The reported timeline places their relationship in 2021, followed by their engagement announcement on April 11, 2023. They had a small wedding in May 2024, then celebrated with a larger gathering in Tuscany in September 2024. The Knot’s timeline reports the relationship and engagement dates; Vanity Fair and British Vogue also describe the two 2024 celebrations.

Brown was 20 at the May wedding. Published accounts differ on Bongiovi’s age: British Vogue describes him as a year older, while Vanity Fair says the couple were 20 and 22. Because those reports conflict, his precise age is not clear from the cited coverage. Brown’s description of being together for “roughly four years” in the 2025 podcast is approximate and does not replace the reported 2021 start of their relationship.

Brown’s explanation centers on a combination she experienced: sharing daily responsibilities, being able to talk about major questions such as politics and children, and seeing young relationships in both families. She said those things helped her imagine a life with Bongiovi and feel confident in her choice. They explain her perspective; they do not show that the same factors predict whether another couple should marry or how a marriage will turn out.
