What Miley Cyrus said about Maxx Morando
In Harper’s Bazaar’s December/January cover story, published online November 20, 2024, Cyrus described similarities between herself and Morando, while acknowledging that their perspectives are not identical.
“He’s very similar to me. We just don’t take life too seriously,” Cyrus told Harper’s Bazaar.
She also said, “He looks at life really differently than I do.” The two comments suggest a relationship built around shared ease rather than identical outlooks.

How music and their shared dog fit into the story
Cyrus described Morando as a creative influence and linked their partnership to a broader habit of working with people she loves: “I’ve always worked with the people that I love. And Maxx just inspires me so much.”
Harper’s Bazaar identified Morando as a producer and drummer in the band Liily, and reported that he regularly collaborates with Cyrus on music. The story said he produced multiple songs on her then-upcoming album and helped write its title track; that description referred to the album’s status at the time of publication.

The couple also share a dog. A follow-up account by PerthNow, published November 27, 2024, recounted Cyrus’s joke: “Honestly, he’s raised our dog off Reddit.”

The 2024 interview described Morando as Cyrus’s boyfriend, but that label is now historical. A September 17, 2026 report by Just Jared describes him as her fiancé and says their engagement was confirmed in December 2025. The same report carries Cyrus’s comments from an interview with Zane Lowe, including her description of marriage as “living with a best friend.”

Harper’s Bazaar placed the beginning of their relationship in late 2021; that is the publication’s reported timeline. The later engagement account is secondary coverage of the Zane Lowe interview.
