Michael J. Fox appeared in the 2026 Actor Awards’ “I Am an Actor” opening segment, where he reflected on his career and family. Reports describe cheers for Fox, but the long standing ovation specifically reported that night was for Harrison Ford as he received the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award.
What Michael J. Fox did at the 2026 Actor Awards
Fox made a surprise appearance in the ceremony’s “I Am an Actor” opening tradition. It was an introductory segment, not an award acceptance speech. In its account of the video, Access Hollywood says Fox reminisced about his path to stardom, meeting Tracy Pollan on Family Ties, and his four children.

What is known about the audience reaction
Coverage describes cheers around Fox’s segment. It does not establish how long the reaction lasted or identify which individual stars joined in, so claims of a sustained ovation from stars go beyond what the available reporting supports.
#1 Best Overall
The distinction matters because ABC News reported a long standing ovation for Harrison Ford when he collected the Life Achievement Award. That was a separate moment from Fox’s opening appearance.
