Michael Cera joined Glen Powell and Emilia Jones in the cast of Edgar Wright’s The Running Man, according to a casting report published October 25, 2024. That was a historical announcement, not a new casting development. In the completed film, released in 2025, Cera is credited as Elton; Paramount Global Content gives the character’s fuller name as Elton Perrakis.
What the casting report said
The October 25, 2024 report said Cera and Jones had joined Powell in the film. Paramount’s finished-film listings later confirmed Cera’s role, but use slightly different versions of the character name: Paramount Movies credits him as Elton, while Paramount Global Content lists Elton Perrakis.

The film was directed by Edgar Wright and adapts Stephen King’s work. Paramount Movies lists it as a 2025 R-rated film with a runtime of 2 hours and 13 minutes.
How The Running Man fits the story
Paramount describes the film’s near-future setting as one where The Running Man is television’s top-rated show. Its contestants, called Runners, must survive for 30 days while professional assassins hunt them. Their movements are broadcast to the public, and the cash reward increases each day. The 30 days are a detail of the fictional competition, not a real-world contest or statistic.
