Dulce, the Mexican singer and actress whose full name was Bertha Elisa Noeggerath Cárdenas, died on December 25, 2024, at age 69. Her sister Isabel announced her death, La Jornada reported. Audiences knew Dulce for romantic ballads including “Tu muñeca,” “Aún lo amo,” “Lobo” and “Soy una dama.”
Who was Dulce?
Born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Dulce moved to Monterrey in the early 1970s. She studied psychology and joined the group Toby y sus amigos before moving to Mexico City. La Jornada reports that she began her solo career there in 1975, with support from singer José José.

Her career reached a major milestone in 1978, when she won the top prize at the Mallorca Music Festival with “Señor Amor,” a song composed by Armando Manzanero, according to the Los Angeles Times. Her best-known songs also included “Déjame Volver Contigo,” the newspaper reported.

She also worked as an actress and television personality. The Los Angeles Times reports that she appeared in Spanish-language television and film and later joined the Netflix reality series Siempre Reinas.

La Jornada reported on December 26, 2024, that Dulce had spent about three weeks in hospital, undergone pulmonary surgery and died after pneumonia. The Los Angeles Times reported that she was admitted in early December for lung problems and underwent pleuropulmonary decortication surgery on December 7. These are accounts published by news outlets; they do not amount to an independently verified medical record establishing a more specific clinical cause of death.
La Jornada also published a statement Dulce had shared about her hospitalization: “Queridos amigos, medios de comunicación y público que siempre me acompañan. Quiero compartir con ustedes que, por recomendaciones médicas, me encuentro hospitalizada para atender un cuadro de salud que requiere cuidados y reposo. Estoy tranquila, en buenas manos, y con la confianza de que pronto estaré completamente recuperada”. She said she was hospitalized on medical advice, receiving care and rest, and felt confident she would recover.
