Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s 2024 holiday card was a six-image digital greeting that paired a family photograph with images from the couple’s public year. In the family scene, Archie and Lilibet run toward their parents with their faces turned away from the camera; three dogs are nearby. The card offers a warm glimpse of family life, but the reports do not establish that the couple intended the image to carry a specific symbolic message.
What appeared in the 2024 card?
The Sussexes released the six-image card by email on December 16, 2024. Its montage included the family photograph as well as images associated with the couple’s public engagements and travels, including Nigeria and Colombia. In that sense, it functions both as a seasonal greeting and as a selective recap of the year’s public-facing activities.
The family photograph shows Meghan and Harry outdoors with their arms open as Archie and Lilibet run toward them. The children are photographed from behind, and the family’s three dogs appear nearby. ITV’s contemporaneous report described Archie as five and Lilibet as three at the time.
Why are Archie and Lilibet shown from behind?
The image allows the card to show a family moment without showing the children’s faces. Vogue framed the obscured faces as consistent with celebrities’ efforts to protect their children’s privacy, and other coverage has noted that the children are rarely shown publicly. It is reasonable to read the composition as privacy-conscious, but that is an interpretation of the image and reporting—not an explanation the couple is reported to have given for choosing it.

Was the card for family or for work?
The publicized six-image card was intended for professional use. Reporting also said the couple sent a different card to close family and friends, which remained private. The public version should therefore not be treated as the family’s only holiday card or as a full account of their private traditions.
What did the greeting say?
The card’s message read: “On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archewell Productions and Archewell Foundation, we wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful New Year.” Its wording names the couple’s office and both Archewell organizations, giving the greeting an institutional as well as seasonal frame.

What does the card mean?
The clearest reading is that the card combines two functions: it sends an inclusive holiday and New Year greeting, while its varied images offer a curated glimpse of family life and the couple’s public year. The family photograph balances warmth with reserve by showing the children without their faces. That visual effect can invite reflection on privacy, but the reviewed coverage does not report a specific symbolic interpretation from Harry or Meghan. Any claim about a deliberate hidden message goes beyond what is established.
