Is Meg 2: The Trench based on a book?
Yes. The official film site names Steve Alten’s novel The Trench as source material. That confirms the book connection, but does not by itself show how faithfully the screenplay adapts the novel.
Who made the film, and when was it released?
Warner Bros. Pictures and CMC Pictures present the film. Ben Wheatley directed; Jason Statham and Wu Jing headline a cast that also includes Sophia Cai, Page Kennedy, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Skyler Samuels and Cliff Curtis.
