Paramount describes Season 5 as the show’s final season. Its March announcement also said Seasons 1–4 were available on Paramount+ at that time; availability can vary by country and change, so check the service’s current local catalog.
What is confirmed about Season 5?
David Morse joins the cast
Paramount confirmed David Morse as series regular Russell Hardy, a seasoned FBI agent sent to Kingstown. The season synopsis says Hardy’s arrival threatens to expose Mike’s secrets and disrupt the town’s balance of power. These are announced story details, not a full account of the season’s plot.

Season 5 is the finale
Paramount identifies the eight-episode season as the fifth and final installment of the series. The announcement does not give a premiere date.
Why the Season 4 headline is out of date
Season 4 premiered on October 26, 2025, according to Paramount’s August 14, 2025 announcement. Its setup placed Mike’s control under pressure from new players filling the power vacuum left by the Russians, a gang war, and a new warden. The production news now concerns the follow-up season, rather than an upcoming Season 4.
What the Pittsburgh production figures mean
Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development reported a $27,999,732 production tax-credit award for Season 5 and estimated $107,289,039 in direct spending, 1,749 jobs, and 5,600 hotel nights. These are state-reported estimates associated with the final season, not confirmed final expenditures or a measure of Season 4’s impact.
Separately, CBS Pittsburgh reported figures attributed to the Pittsburgh Film Office: more than $325 million in local economic impact and more than 10,000 jobs since filming began in western Pennsylvania in 2022, along with 457 Pittsburgh-area shoot days. The report also put Season 4’s economic impact in Pittsburgh at more than $95 million. Those cumulative and season-specific figures describe different time frames and measures from the state’s Season 5 estimates.
