Dupri explained that the reference gave her character a reason to leave the ring, and that she saw it as a positive acknowledgment of her brother.
Who pitched the reference to Dupri’s brother?
Dupri said she originated the idea. She shared the account in an interview with Chris Van Vliet published November 6, 2025. “I was the originator of the idea,” she said.
That distinction matters: Dupri proposed the story beat, while Candice LeRae was the performer who delivered the reference in the match. Dupri did not credit LeRae or WWE management with pitching the personal detail.
Why did Dupri suggest it?
The match layout called for LeRae to yell at Dupri, after which Dupri would leave the ring. Dupri wanted the moment to give her character a clear reason to walk out. As she put it, “If you want me to walk out of the ring, give me a reason to walk out of the ring.”
