Mattel advised families who already had a doll to discard the packaging or cover the link, and to contact Mattel Customer Service for more information. The company later said corrected packages had returned to retail, but that does not establish the print status of every doll still in circulation or currently listed for sale.
What was wrong with the Wicked doll packaging?
On November 10–11, 2024, Mattel said packaging for its Wicked collection dolls had a misprinted web address. The intended destination was the film landing page at WickedMovie.com; the printed address was wicked.com. Contemporary reporting identified the Glinda and Elphaba dolls and said the collection was primarily sold in the United States.
Mattel described the printed website as not appropriate for children. The issue was the address on the packaging, not a claim that the dolls themselves were defective.
What should owners do?
Mattel’s advice, reported by The Guardian on November 10, 2024, was to discard the product packaging or obscure the link. Owners could contact Mattel Customer Service for further information.

If you are checking a doll you already own, inspect its box rather than assuming it has the misprint based on its character or purchase date. The available reports do not provide a way to identify affected units by product code or establish how many were sold.
Did Mattel pull the dolls from stores?
Some retailers showed the dolls as unavailable or removed listings during the initial response. The Associated Press reported that Mattel did not confirm whether its statement about immediate action meant unsold stock was removed from physical stores. Retail listings and store availability at that time therefore do not establish a recall or quantify affected dolls.

Were corrected packages sold later?
In December 2024, the Los Angeles Times reported Mattel’s statement that the Wicked dolls had returned to online and physical retail with corrected packaging. That later report describes the company’s retail response; it does not verify the packaging on every surviving unit, resale listing, or present-day retail listing. For a particular purchase, ask the retailer or Mattel to confirm the package version.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Holly Ricketson filed a class action in federal court in the Central District of California in December 2024. The story described claims in the complaint about a child’s exposure and related harm; those are allegations, not court findings. The cited report does not establish a later ruling or other case outcome.
