PerthNow reported Matilda in a casual T-shirt and baggy pants, and Williams in a yellow patterned dress and sunglasses. Those details are photo descriptions, not endorsements or a broader account of either person’s life.
When was the outing?
The reports place the sighting in late July 2024, but they differ on the exact day. WHO gives July 30, while Parade’s photo caption says Wednesday, July 31. PerthNow says “on Tuesday” without specifying a calendar date. The safest summary is late July unless a particular outlet’s date is being quoted.

Why “16 years after” refers to Heath Ledger
Matilda is the daughter of Williams and Heath Ledger. The Guardian’s 2023 profile says she was born at the end of 2005, that Williams and Ledger separated in 2007, and that Ledger died five months later. WHO gives his date of death as January 22, 2008, when he was 28. The interval from January 2008 to the July 2024 sighting is the calendar context behind the “16 years after” wording, not evidence that the outing marked an anniversary.
The Guardian also reported that paparazzi attention after Ledger’s death led Williams and Matilda to leave Brooklyn for a time, and that Williams later returned to the neighborhood. That background helps explain why a rare public photograph attracted notice; it does not establish Matilda’s current preferences or private circumstances.
