Marvel Zombies is a four-episode animated miniseries that turns the zombie storyline from What If…? into a more graphic, post-apocalyptic superhero adventure. Its horror-action set pieces and unusual team-ups are the main attractions; uneven plotting and a sometimes jokey tone may make it a mixed watch. Whether it works for you depends especially on your tolerance for gore.
What is Marvel Zombies about?
Set five years after the outbreak in a universe adjacent to the MCU, the series centers on Kamala Khan, Riri Williams, and Kate Bishop. The young heroes discover a possible way to end the zombie scourge and set out on a dangerous journey with other survivors. The story starts with survival in a ruined world, then grows into a larger mission to save it.

That setup blends zombie horror with familiar Marvel team-ups. The appeal is partly in seeing heroes with different personalities and abilities forced to work together under extreme pressure, rather than in a mystery about whether the outbreak can be contained.
Is Marvel Zombies worth watching?
If you want animated superhero action with graphic zombie spectacle and character combinations outside the usual team roster, the series offers those pleasures. The action staging and bloody set pieces are the clearest strengths identified by both reviews. The trade-off is a story whose plotting and tone do not always hold together.

GamesRadar+ praises the action and bloody spectacle, but finds the show too jokey at times and questions some character choices. TechRadar likewise enjoys the gore and team dynamics while criticizing the plotting, tonal consistency, and emotional impact. These are two reviewers’ assessments, not a measure of audience response or a universal consensus. GamesRadar+ contributor Alex Zalben called it “a pleasant enough diversion for horror fans, with some fun character surprises, bloody kills, and great action scenes.”
How gory is Marvel Zombies?
The miniseries leans into graphic horror and bloody violence more than typical Marvel animation. That makes gore tolerance the most useful guide to whether it is suitable for you: viewers looking for a lightly spooky superhero cartoon may find it harsher than expected, while horror fans may welcome the explicit spectacle. The reviews describe the violence qualitatively; they do not establish a detailed content rating or a scene-by-scene intensity scale.

Do you need to watch What If…? first?
Marvel Zombies continues the zombie scenario introduced in the first season of What If…?. GamesRadar+ describes it as picking up after that zombie episode. Watching the episode first gives you the clearest introduction to the premise and its screen continuity, but the miniseries shifts focus to Kamala, Riri, and Kate and follows them into a new journey.
