The fan-art series, inspired by Avengers: Age of Ultron, was published by icanbecreative on February 19, 2018. These are artistic reinterpretations—not official Marvel designs or canon.
Ten Marvel characters, transformed for a fantasy setting
The gallery’s labels describe each imagined role. They are captions for Kamarudin’s designs, not official character aliases.
-
Iron Man — “The Sorcerer Of Snark”
The title shifts Tony Stark’s familiar blend of ingenuity and wit toward the image of a fantasy sorcerer.
-
Thor — “Almighty Thor as Battle Cleric”
Thor’s divine identity becomes a cleric’s role, with the emphasis on battle rather than technology or science.

How the gallery translates superheroes into medieval roles
The clearest transformations begin with a character trait or power and map it to a fantasy archetype: Thor becomes a battle cleric, Hawkeye an arcane archer, and Black Widow an assassin. Other labels lean into atmosphere—“Wraithbrand” and “The Bloodied Titan”—to suggest a darker setting. The captions offer a way to compare the concepts, but the source does not rank the designs or provide a systematic critique.
An official Marvel medieval counterpart
Kamarudin’s ten designs are fan art, but Marvel has its own medieval character in Sir Percy of Scandia. Marvel describes Percy as a sixth-century Black Knight who defends King Arthur and Camelot, armed with enchanted armor and the Ebony Blade. He is a useful point of comparison, not one of the ten figures in this gallery. Marvel’s Black Knight Facsimile Edition (2021) #1, published February 17, 2021, recounts a King Arthur-era story.
About sharing or submitting fan art
The 2018 gallery credits Kamarudin, but that credit is not a grant of permission to reproduce the images. The Library of Congress says artwork in its Marvel Comics Collection is restricted by copyright and that Marvel stipulated the collection’s artwork may not be published without permission. That statement concerns the Library’s collection; it is not a complete ruling on every use of fan art. Anyone planning to republish the gallery images should secure appropriate permission and seek qualified rights advice if their plans depend on a legal conclusion.
Marvel’s official Submission requests guidance says: “Marvel does not accept or consider any ideas, creative suggestions, artwork, designs, game proposals, scripts, manuscripts, or similar material unless we have specifically requested it from you.” In other words, unsolicited artwork is not a route to have a fan design reviewed by Marvel.
