What makes the film’s box-office run notable?
Iron Lung opened domestically on January 30, 2026. The Numbers lists a production budget of $3 million, a database-reported figure rather than independently audited production accounting. Compared with that reported budget, the film’s reported theatrical gross is substantial; gross receipts are not the same as profit, since the figures do not account for distribution costs, marketing, or the division of ticket revenue.
The YouTube Official Blog described Mark Fischbach, known as Markiplier, as self-funding, directing and starring in the film, then eventually self-distributing it to more than 3,000 screens. The blog also said fans lobbied theaters to show the film. That account provides release context, but does not establish the film’s net earnings.
What is Iron Lung about, and where can viewers find it?
The Numbers describes it as a live-action horror and science-fiction film based on a game, with isolation-horror elements. The database lists a 127-minute runtime and an R rating for language, bloody images and some gore. Box Office Mojo gives a runtime of 2 hours 5 minutes, a five-minute difference; the sources do not reconcile it.

Why did Markiplier make the film himself?
In a February 23, 2026 interview with the YouTube Official Blog, Mark Fischbach discussed the film’s connection to the game and details hidden in the background. He said: “No one has seen the secrets I’ve hidden in the background of that scene yet. I haven’t seen a single peep about them online.”
