Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa joined the ownership group of Italian club Campobasso FC in 2022; they did not buy it outright. Their involvement is the focus of ESPN’s four-part 2025 docuseries Running with the Wolves, which follows the club through roster decisions, a coaching dilemma, fan protests and a fight against relegation.
What did Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa buy?
On November 10, 2022, Campobasso FC announced that Ripa and Consuelos had joined its ownership group and would work with North Sixth Group. The club identified North Sixth as its principal owner and operator, so describing the couple as the team’s sole buyers would be inaccurate. Campobasso FC’s announcement
The league context has changed over time. In its 2022 announcement, the club said North Sixth had taken over the Campobasso side competing in Molise’s Eccellenza league after the previous team’s summer difficulties. ESPN described Campobasso as a Serie C club when it announced the docuseries in 2025. ESPN’s series announcement
What is Running with the Wolves about?
ESPN announced Running with the Wolves on July 9, 2025, as a four-part ESPN Original. The series follows the couple’s experience as owners, from roster choices and pressure over the coach to match-day tension and the club’s ties to its community. ESPN’s series announcement

Consuelos described his involvement in an ESPN interview published July 29, 2025: “Kelly will tell you how all-in I’ve been, from 3 a.m. calls with coaches to picking players and even meeting with fans face-to-face.” He added: “I played football growing up and in college, but this ownership role has completely changed my perspective.” ESPN’s interview with Consuelos
On the local relationship, Consuelos called the series “a tale of a region learning to trust a bunch of crazy Americans who came in and bought their team.” That is his personal description of the experience, not a neutral account of how the community viewed the owners. Ripa and Consuelos also said in ESPN’s announcement: “Campobasso FC represents the underdog that lives in all of us.” ESPN’s series announcement
