He was later deported to Australia and barred from re-entering Singapore, according to a November 23 report by CNA citing the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority.
What happened at the premiere
The incident took place on November 13, 2025, at the film’s yellow-carpet event at Resorts World Sentosa. CNA reported that Wen jumped a barricade, ran toward Grande, put his arm around her and jumped up and down. Cynthia Erivo and security officers intervened. While being escorted away, Wen turned back and tried to jump the barricade a second time; security stopped and pinned him. The prosecution said the commotion disrupted the event and shocked fans.

What sentence did Johnson Wen receive?
Wen was arrested on November 14. He pleaded guilty to causing annoyance to the public by causing a commotion at the premiere, and District Judge Christopher Goh sentenced him to nine days’ jail on November 17. CNA reported that prosecutors had sought a week in jail; the judge imposed nine days, saying an uplift was appropriate.
Why did the judge impose nine days?
Judge Goh described Wen’s actions as premeditated and intended to attract attention. Although no actual harm occurred, the judge said crossing the security barrier could have caused panic. CNA’s account of the hearing quotes the judge telling Wen, “You should be mindful that there are always consequences for one’s actions,” and, “It was fortunate that something bad did not occur.”

The judge also said: “You seem to be attention-seeking, thinking only of yourself and not the safety of others when committing these acts.” Wen said in mitigation, “I won’t do it again, your honour.” These remarks are reported by CNA; no official hearing transcript is cited here.
How did the case end after jail?
On November 23, CNA reported, citing Singapore’s Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, that Wen had been deported to Australia and barred from re-entering Singapore. That was a later immigration action, separate from the nine-day jail sentence.

What was the possible maximum penalty?
CNA reported that the public-nuisance offense carried a maximum of three months’ jail, a fine of up to S$2,000, or both. The nine-day sentence was not the maximum. CNA’s charging report said prosecutors amended the original charge from Section 290(a) to Section 290(b) of Singapore’s Penal Code; this account relies on CNA’s reporting rather than an independently reviewed court judgment or official statute text.
