Malice is a six-episode Prime Video psychological thriller built around a tutor who insinuates himself into a wealthy family’s life, then reveals a revenge plot. Jack Whitehall plays the tutor, Adam Healey; David Duchovny and Carice van Houten play the couple whose household he enters. The premise promises a slow-burn contest of suspicion and manipulation, but the available official information establishes the setup—not whether its twists or performances ultimately land.
What is Malice about?
Amazon describes Malice as a psychological thriller created by James Wood, set in London and Greece. Adam Healey, a tutor, gets close to the wealthy Tanner family during a holiday in Greece. When their nanny becomes dangerously ill, Adam moves into the family’s London home. His vengeful intentions emerge as he turns Jamie and Nat against one another and plots against the family; Jamie begins to suspect Adam is behind the disasters around them. Amazon’s series announcement frames the central mystery as why Adam despises Jamie and asks how the family can protect itself from an enemy within.
That setup makes the series’ central dramatic question less about whether Adam is dangerous than how long he can shape events before the Tanners recognize what he is doing. A spoiler-light review can assess whether the motive becomes legible and whether the family’s suspicions and responses feel convincing without disclosing later turns. The official synopsis alone cannot settle those questions.
Who stars in the series?
| Actor | Role |
|---|---|
| Jack Whitehall | Adam Healey, the tutor who enters the Tanners’ orbit |
| David Duchovny | Jamie Tanner |
| Carice van Houten | Nat Tanner |
| Harry Gilby, Teddie Allen and Phoenix Laroche | The Tanner children; individual character names are not stated in Amazon’s announcement |
| Christine Adams | Jules |
| Raza Jaffrey | Damien |
Whitehall described the part as unlike anything he had done before, according to Amazon’s announcement. That is his comment on the role, not an independent assessment of the performance. The central critical test is whether Adam’s initial charm and later menace feel like parts of the same character—and whether Duchovny and van Houten make Jamie and Nat’s changing trust believable.

Does the revenge-thriller setup make for a satisfying watch?
The series’ premise has a clear engine: a newcomer gains access to a family, the household becomes unstable, and suspicion shifts toward the person who appears to be helping. That structure gives the story room to build unease before its conflicts become explicit. Whether it sustains that tension depends on the clarity of Adam’s motive, the plausibility of the family’s reactions, and whether reversals develop the story rather than merely delay answers.
Those are viewing judgments, not conclusions supported by the official synopsis or cast announcement. The available material does not establish whether the six-episode pace earns its turns, so the fairest expectation is a domestic-intrigue thriller whose appeal rests on performances and the gradual exposure of a revenge plan—not a guarantee that every twist works.
