The comedy has lively performances and flashes of sharp absurdity, but its rhythm is uneven: some jokes miss, and a few scenes continue after their comic spark has faded.
What is Madgaon Express about?
Released in 2024, Madgaon Express is a Hindi comedy written and directed by Kunal Kemmu, in his directorial debut. Dodo, Ayush and Pinku have been friends since childhood. As adults, they finally set out on the Goa trip they had dreamed about for years, only for poor decisions and a cocaine stash to pull them into a mess involving police and criminals. The premise gives the film a broad farcical engine; the friendship among the three men is its emotional center.
Divyenndu plays Dodo, Avinash Tiwary plays Ayush, and Pratik Gandhi plays Pinku. Nora Fatehi, Upendra Limaye and Chhaya Kadam are also in the ensemble. Excel Entertainment’s film page lists the release date as 22 March 2024 and provides the official synopsis and credits.
What works: the friendship and the performances
The strongest reason to watch is the chemistry among the leads. In her Scroll.in review published 22 March 2024, Nandini Ramnath describes their rapport as “lived-in”: the characters’ bickering and bad decisions feel more persuasive because the performers make their shared history believable.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Divyenndu gives Dodo an energetic, often manic quality, while Pratik Gandhi’s anxious Pinku gradually finds a more assertive side. Their contrasting reactions help give the escalating trouble shape. The film’s most successful comedy comes when it lets those personalities collide in absurd situations rather than relying only on the fact of the criminal chaos.
Where the comedy loses momentum
The comic hit rate is inconsistent. Some eccentric turns land; others feel forced, and the 144-minute cut, as described by Ramnath, has scenes that run past their funniest point. The result is a film that can feel lively in one stretch and overextended in the next. Viewers looking for tightly controlled comic pacing may find the tonal shifts and lingering bits frustrating.

That mixed response appears in the critic excerpts Rotten Tomatoes displays. The Hindu’s Shilajit Mitra called it “A fun, freewheeling ride, occasionally hobbled by slapstick excess.” The Indian Express’s Shubhra Gupta praised the actors’ ability to lift scenes but found the writing lacklustre. These are individual critical responses, not a single settled verdict.
How much space do the women characters get?
Ramnath’s review also argues that the film is more assured with its male leads than with its women characters. She considers Nora Fatehi’s role largely tied to song sequences and Chhaya Kadam’s character underused. That imbalance matters if a well-developed supporting cast is important to your choice of comedy; the film’s central friendship remains a bond among the three men.

Is it suitable for family viewing?
It is not a children’s comedy: drugs and criminality are part of the plot, and the film includes stylised violence and coarse material. Australia’s government classification lists Madgaon Express as M, with consumer advice for drug use and violence. Its content notes also mention stylised fights, guns and bladed weapons, crude language, sexual references, and visual and verbal references to cocaine and a hallucinogen. The Australian Classification record, dated 15 March 2024, describes the film as Hindi with English subtitles. Classification guidance is specific to Australia; viewers elsewhere should check their local rating and the sensitivities of their household.
How long is it, and what do the ratings say?
Published runtime listings do not agree. The Australian Classification record gives 143 minutes; Prime Video lists 2 hours 22 minutes; Rotten Tomatoes lists 2 hours 35 minutes. Because these figures differ, check the runtime shown by the service or edition you plan to watch rather than assuming every listing reflects the same version.
