How Macaulay Culkin and Brenda Song first met
In a 2025 interview with Cosmopolitan, the couple recalled meeting at Seth Green’s house in 2014, around the time Song’s show Dads was canceled. Song remembered Culkin trying to joke about the cancellation and said, “He was trying to be funny about our show being canceled and I was not having it.” The account is reported by ABC News.
Relationship timeline
2017: Reconnecting on Changeland
Culkin and Song worked together on Seth Green’s film Changeland, which was filmed in Thailand. Their 2025 account distinguishes this reunion from their earlier first meeting. Song said she became interested in Culkin during filming. Some timeline coverage calls June 2017 when they met, referring to their reunion on the production rather than their 2014 introduction.
July and September 2017: Dating rumors and a public outing
In July, the pair were photographed having dinner at Craig’s in Los Angeles, prompting dating rumors. That sighting does not establish when they began dating. In September, they attended Knott’s Scary Farm with Green and Clare Grant and were reported to be holding hands. These were public milestones, not a confirmed first date or exact relationship start. Entertainment Tonight recaps the early public timeline.
