Spoilers for Glass, The Visit, Unbreakable and Split. The film M. Night Shyamalan considered linking to Glass was The Visit (2015). His unused idea would have involved two people escaping from the same psychiatric hospital where Glass holds its central characters. He dropped it, so the crossover was never filmed.
What the proposed Glass connection involved
In Glass (2019), David Dunn, Kevin Wendell Crumb and Elijah Price are confined in a psychiatric institution. Shyamalan told The Hollywood Reporter that he had considered a story in which two people escaped from that same hospital. SYFY Wire identified the pair as the elderly impostors from The Visit.

Shyamalan explained why the scene did not make it into the film: “I was going to do it, but I chickened out. So I didn’t do it.” The remark was quoted by SYFY Wire from his interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The hospital idea remained unfilmed, rather than becoming a hidden scene or a confirmed plot connection.
How this differs from the released trilogy
The established connected story is Unbreakable (2000), Split (2016) and Glass. The ending of Split reveals its relationship to Unbreakable, and Glass brings those stories together. TIME’s guide to the trilogy’s connections discusses shared characters and plot details. The Visit is not part of that released continuity; its link to Glass was only a discarded possibility.

Does Shyamalan consider all his films one universe?
No. Shyamalan has described his usual approach as treating films as distinct worlds. In a 2021 interview reported by ComicBook.com, he said: “I think of them more in that Twilight Zone thought process of each one is its own discernible thing. They’re not related.” That general view does not rule out a reference or an abandoned crossover idea, but it is a reason not to treat every resemblance between his films as proof of shared canon.
The clearest description is therefore a near-link: Glass almost included an escape story tied to The Visit, but the released film does not establish that connection.
