Luke Grimes reprises Kayce Dutton in Marshals, the CBS spinoff that was first announced as Y: Marshals. The original “to star” framing of the announcement is now out of date: the show is on the air, and CBS has already published a second-season premiere listing.
What the show is called now
The series goes by Marshals. Paramount’s official premiere materials describe it as “MARSHALS (fka Y: MARSHALS),” which confirms that Y: Marshals was a working title and not a separate series. If you search for the older name, you will find the same show under the new one.

The premise
Kayce leaves the Yellowstone Ranch and joins an elite U.S. Marshals unit in Montana. Those two pressures, rather than a new ranch storyline, are what the series is built around.

Paramount Television Studios reported 20.4 million multiplatform viewers for the first eight episodes, in an announcement dated June 8, 2026. That announcement was made when production on season two began. The figure covers those eight episodes across platforms. It is not a season-wide total or a figure for the current season, and it is a studio-reported number rather than an independent ratings count.
