The rank is a reported claim—not a position documented in a Spotify-published chart—and the available reporting does not explain how the ranking was calculated.
What the sixth-place claim means
CNN Brasil reported on August 29, 2024, that Ludmilla was “a 6ª mulher preta mais ouvida no Spotify” (the sixth most-listened-to Black woman on Spotify). The article also said she had passed one billion streams in 2024 as of August 28. Those are two distinct claims: one is a rank within a particular group, while the other is a stream total associated with 2024. The report does not specify a measurement window or ranking method for the sixth-place position. CNN Brasil’s August 29, 2024 report.
Why it is not an official current Spotify ranking
A later entertainment report from Nosso Bloco TV, published August 6, 2026, repeated the sixth-place description. Neither report, as documented here, establishes that Spotify published the ranking or explains its methodology. The responsible way to state the result is that Ludmilla was reported in sixth place, with the reporting date attached—not that Spotify currently ranks her sixth. Nosso Bloco TV’s August 6, 2026 report.
How this differs from Spotify’s all-time artist list
Spotify’s April 23, 2026 all-time list names 20 artists based on global streams through April 2026. It is a broad, platform-wide ranking, not a ranking limited to Black women; Ludmilla does not appear on that list. Its scope therefore neither confirms nor disproves the narrower sixth-place claim. Rankings also depend on what is counted. Cumulative streams, streams over a defined period, and monthly listeners are different measures. A monthly-listener figure cannot be used as if it were a cumulative-stream total, and a rank is difficult to assess without knowing the population and time window being compared.
The separate billion-stream milestones
A historical milestone
Spotify said in a November 30, 2022 artist profile that Ludmilla was the first Black singer in Latin America to surpass one billion Spotify streams. This is a historical milestone credited to Spotify; it is not itself evidence of a sixth-place rank. Spotify’s November 30, 2022 profile.
The 2024 report
CNN Brasil’s statement that Ludmilla had reached one billion streams in 2024 as of August 28 refers to a period-specific figure in its 2024 coverage. It should not be conflated with Spotify’s account of her earlier, career-spanning milestone. CNN Brasil’s report.

Spotify describes Ludmilla as a Brazilian singer-songwriter and says she made her musical debut in 2014 with “Hoje.” In a March 2023 profile, Spotify identified her as that month’s GLOW artist and noted that Numanice #2 won the Latin Grammy for Best Samba/Pagode Album. These details place the streaming claims in her career context, but they do not establish the methodology or present-day validity of the sixth-place ranking. Spotify’s March 21, 2023 profile.
