Yes. Renee Poche confirmed that she and Carter Wall got engaged while filming Love Is Blind Season 5. They reached the altar, but Poche said no, and they did not marry. Their relationship was filmed but left out of the season’s released episodes.
What happened between Renee Poche and Carter Wall?
In an October 2023 interview with PopSugar, quoted by Men’s Health, Poche confirmed the engagement and said the couple made it to the altar. “We did go all the way to altar, but we did not get married,” she said. She added: “And eventually I did say ‘no’ at the altar.”
That confirmation settled speculation among Season 5 viewers, who had tried to infer an off-screen engagement from clues in the show. Bustle later described that fan sleuthing; the clues themselves were speculation, not confirmation. Bustle’s account traces how the rumor circulated before Poche spoke publicly.
Why was their engagement missing from Season 5?
Poche said she was shocked to learn the relationship would not be featured. Recalling what she said production told her, she quoted: “We’ll just, point blank, say that Carter was awful and we don’t want you to have to relive that,” followed by, “That’s just not going to be a big focus.” Those are Poche’s recollections of the explanation she received, not a direct statement from production or an independently verified account of its reasoning. Men’s Health reproduces the comments from her PopSugar interview.

The relationship was filmed, but the released season omitted its storyline, according to Poche’s account and subsequent reporting. Fans later used “Release the Renee Cut” in online discussion; it was a fan slogan, not a title or request attributed to Poche.
What did Poche allege in her court complaint?
In a January 2024 complaint against Delirium TV and Netflix, Poche alleged that she felt unsafe and was pressured to continue filming. The complaint also alleges that she was told after filming that the relationship would be cut. These are claims made by Poche in a legal filing, not court findings or independent proof of Wall’s conduct. The filing does not establish a final court determination or the current status of the case. The complaint is the source for the allegations.

Was Poche married before Love Is Blind?
A separate rumor claimed Poche had been married before the show. The New Yorker reported in May 2024 that she pushed back on that claim and later married a different man. Its account also quotes her saying, “They don’t want me to tell my story,” and, “It’s my story—it’s for me to tell people.” This is separate from her confirmation of the engagement to Wall. The New Yorker’s report provides that later context.
