She also spoke about the welcome she found among LGBTQ+ artists: “I am so lucky to work in the industry that I do. That I’m in a community of artists who also identify as LGBTQ+. So it’s just a warm, lovely welcome that I am blessed to have. I don’t take that for granted.” Her remarks describe support in her professional and artistic community; they do not detail private responses from individual family members.
Why she connected visibility with being seen
Jacobson received the HRC Visibility Award for work in LGBTQ+ representation on and off screen. In her remarks at the event, as quoted by Out.com, she linked openness in acting with connection in life: “As an actor, I’ve learned that the most powerful performances happen when the actor allows themselves to be revelatory—when they drop the mask and stand in the raw truth of who they are. It’s the same in life. The moments where we drop the mask and allow ourselves to be seen, those are the moments when we truly connect with others.”
