Lorde’s Instagram and X feeds were cleared in August 2024, after she shared a brief studio clip the previous month. The clip was captioned “will be back in touch,” prompting fans to speculate about new music—but the wipe did not confirm an album announcement or release date.
What happened in August 2024?
On August 12, 2024, NME reported that Lorde’s Instagram and X/Twitter feeds had been cleared. The change followed a one-second studio clip she had shared the previous month, which NME described as a tease of new music. Its caption read “will be back in touch.” NME’s report documents the posts and the timing.
Did the wipe confirm a new Lorde album?
No. Fans speculated that clearing the feeds signaled an upcoming album or a new era, but those were interpretations of the posts, not confirmation from Lorde. The reported events establish neither an announcement date nor a release timetable tied to the 2024 tease.
How does the 2025 snippet fit in?
Lorde’s later activity is a separate episode. On April 9, 2025, NME reported that she shared a short new-song snippet on TikTok after wiping her social-media accounts, and noted that her official website was blank at the time. That report concerns 2025; it should not be conflated with the August 2024 Instagram and X wipe. NME’s April 2025 report covers the later clip.

Where to find Lorde’s existing music
Lorde’s artist-linked Linktree lists music and merchandise, including Solar Power Standard Vinyl. That is an option for exploring her existing discography, not the track heard in the 2024 studio tease and not confirmation that the teased music was released. Lorde’s Linktree points to her linked offerings.
