What made Loni Anderson famous?
Anderson’s defining role was Jennifer Marlowe, the receptionist at the struggling radio station at the center of WKRP in Cincinnati, which aired from 1978 to 1982. Jennifer was stylish, but the character’s appeal went beyond appearance: she was intelligent, composed and efficient, often deflecting unwanted callers and helping keep the station running. (AP)
Anderson earned two Emmy nominations for the role. The Television Academy records nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy or Variety or Music Series in 1980 and 1981. The AP also reported three Golden Globe nominations for her performance. (Television Academy)
