When a VPS with FFmpeg is the better fit
- You need direct control over the server and encoding workflow and have the skills to configure and supervise them.

Do not assume a 24/7 stream becomes a complete replay
LiveReacting’s guide, updated September 2026, reports that YouTube may not capture streams longer than 12 hours as a video on demand. That is a vendor’s summary of YouTube behavior, not a substitute for checking YouTube’s current live-stream and monetization policies. Keep the original media and do not assume one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast will create a complete replay or meet any particular watch-hour requirement.
Rights and channel rules remain your responsibility
Whichever infrastructure you use, broadcast only videos, music, and visuals you own or are licensed to use, and follow YouTube’s current channel and content policies. Changing from a VPS to a managed service does not change those obligations.
