Brian Johnson, known online as Liver King, was arrested in Austin on June 24, 2025, and charged with a Class B misdemeanor terroristic threat. Austin police said the warrant request followed social media posts they considered threatening and a conversation with Joe Rogan, who told police he viewed the posts as threatening. A later report said the charge was dismissed on November 13, 2025; the reason was not reported.
Why was Liver King arrested?
Austin Police Department said detectives reviewed Johnson’s Instagram posts and were notified at about 9:30 a.m. on June 24, 2025. According to police, Johnson was traveling to Austin while continuing to make threatening statements. Police also said they contacted Rogan, who considered the posts threatening. Those details are the department’s account, not a court finding. The San Antonio Express-News published the police account, and ABC News reported the arrest and charge.
Police said officers located Johnson at the Four Seasons Hotel, 98 San Jacinto Boulevard, at about 5:59 p.m. and took him into custody without incident. The department’s statement, reproduced by the Express-News, said: “Based on this information, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson on a charge of Terroristic Threat.” That describes the basis police gave for seeking the warrant; it is not a finding of guilt.
What was Liver King charged with?
Johnson was charged with Terroristic Threat, a Class B misdemeanor, according to police and contemporaneous reporting. An arrest and charge are allegations, not proof that the person committed an offense. The cited reporting does not establish a conviction.
