If a Livepush stream shows offline in YouTube Studio, first check whether Livepush is receiving video from your encoder. If it is, check that the YouTube destination is saved and enabled, then confirm the correct event and stream key are in use and that the event has actually been started. “Offline” is a symptom, not a diagnosis; tracing the connection one link at a time is the quickest way to find the break.
Trace the stream from encoder to YouTube
The delivery chain is encoder → Livepush ingest → YouTube destination → YouTube live event. Start at the encoder end and move downstream. If video has not reached Livepush, changing YouTube settings will not fix the upstream problem.
1. Check whether Livepush receives the encoder feed
Open the Livepush stream dashboard and inspect the incoming status, video preview, bitrate, FPS and health-monitor graph. The dashboard also exposes keyframe interval, resolution, codecs and uptime. Look for current activity and bytes received from the encoder.
- No incoming data or an offline state in Livepush: Confirm the encoder is running and configured with the correct Livepush ingest settings. Resolve this encoder-to-Livepush link before changing the YouTube event.
- Incoming activity and a preview in Livepush: The encoder feed is reaching Livepush, so continue to the destination and YouTube event checks.
Livepush documents these dashboard indicators in its stream dashboard guide (January 16, 2023); the dashboard interface may have changed since publication.

2. Confirm the YouTube destination is selected and enabled
If Livepush receives the feed, verify that its YouTube destination points to the intended channel and event, is saved, and is switched on. With the linked-account setup, Livepush’s guide says to select the channel, choose “New Live Event” when creating an event, save the destination, and turn on its switch to begin sending.
Follow the guide’s linked-account steps at Livepush’s YouTube live-stream setup article (January 25, 2025). A healthy incoming feed alone does not establish that the destination is enabled or attached to the right event.

3. If you use manual RTMP, verify the event’s current key
Manual RTMP requires you to create or select the YouTube event, copy that event’s RTMP stream key into the Livepush destination, save it, and enable the destination. If the key is wrong, outdated or associated with another event, YouTube may not receive the expected stream.
YouTube advises generating a new key in Live Control Room and updating the encoder or destination if a key may be stale. Treat stream keys as passwords: do not share them or publish screenshots that reveal them. Livepush’s manual RTMP setup guide (January 25, 2025) also notes that this method requires configuration for each event and does not provide Livepush multi-chat comments.

Choose the connection method that fits your setup
| Method | What you configure | Practical distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Linked account | Authorize the account, select a channel and event, save the destination, and enable it. | Choose the channel and event through account linking rather than entering a key for each event. |
| Manual RTMP | Copy the selected YouTube event’s stream key into the Livepush destination, save, and enable it. | Configure each event manually; Livepush multi-chat comments are not provided through this method. |
The documented setup steps do not establish that either method is universally more reliable. Choose based on whether you prefer account linking or per-event key entry and whether the manual method’s limitations matter to you.
Check that YouTube is ready and the event has started
Live streaming must be enabled on the YouTube channel. YouTube says first-time enablement can take up to 24 hours. If you have just requested access, allow for that setup period before treating the offline indicator as a Livepush fault.

For a scheduled stream, connecting an encoder is not the same as starting the public event. In Live Control Room, connect the encoder, wait for the preview to appear, and click Go live. A created or scheduled event can remain unstarted. Follow YouTube’s live-stream setup steps.
Read encoder and YouTube health information
If the destination and event look correct, check the encoder’s output and the messages in YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube recommends using the latest encoder version, confirming audio and video output, reviewing live-dashboard errors, and checking encoder CPU load. If output looks healthy locally but the downstream stream does not, YouTube suggests considering another encoder as a diagnostic—not as proof that the encoder is at fault.

YouTube’s Live Streaming API distinguishes stream statuses including active, created, error, inactive and ready. A status or health message can help narrow down the failure. For example, YouTube’s health guidance includes closed-GOP configuration and insufficient incoming video for smooth streaming as issues to check. Use the actual status and message rather than assuming every offline symptom has the same cause. See YouTube’s liveStreams API documentation and YouTube’s live-stream health guidance.
Test the network only if local output looks healthy
If the encoder’s picture and sound are healthy but delivery still fails, outbound connectivity is one possible cause. YouTube recommends testing the connection and contacting your internet provider if the test finds a problem. If Wi-Fi instability is suspected, a wired Ethernet connection can be a useful comparison. A cable will not correct a wrong key, an unstarted event, an authorization problem or an encoder configuration error.
Common symptoms and the next check
| What you see | Most relevant next check |
|---|---|
| Livepush shows no incoming data or preview | Check that the encoder is running and points to the correct Livepush ingest settings. |
| Livepush shows incoming video, but YouTube remains offline | Check the selected channel and event, destination switch, and—if using manual RTMP—the event’s current key. |
| The event exists but no live broadcast appears | Wait for the Live Control Room preview and click Go live; verify first-time live access is enabled. |
| YouTube displays a health or encoder error | Use the specific message; check encoder version, audio/video output, CPU load and the indicated stream configuration. |
| Encoder output looks and sounds fine, but delivery is unstable | Test outbound internet connectivity; compare a wired connection if Wi-Fi is suspect. |
Contact the support team that owns the failing link
If you sign in to third-party streaming software without entering a stream key and that connection fails, YouTube says to contact the software provider, which may need to update compatibility. For Livepush setup questions, its guide offers Livepush live-chat support. Use YouTube support for YouTube event or account issues and Livepush support for its destination or ingest configuration.
