How the performance unfolded
The 2024 CMT Music Awards took place Sunday, April 7, at the Moody Center in Austin. In the performance, Little Big Town began with Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild before Sugarland joined them; all six singers had a solo moment, according to Rolling Stone Canada’s April 8, 2024 report.

Little Big Town’s members are Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook. Sugarland is Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush.
Why the pairing felt like a reunion
The groups had previously performed together at the CMT Awards in 2008, joining Jake Owen for the Dream Academy’s “Life in a Northern Town.” Little Big Town described the 2024 appearance as a homecoming, recalling that when the groups last toured together, they would harmonize on cover songs backstage to surprise audiences. The group said “Take Me Home” felt nostalgic of that time and “like coming home,” in the MCA announcement.
