Lisa Kudrow said she recently found a note Matthew Perry had tucked inside the Friends cookie jar he gave her as a wrap gift. She shared the discovery during a January 7, 2025 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, but did not reveal what the note says.
How Kudrow found the note
Kudrow said she had not opened or checked inside the jar before finding Perry’s note there. The exact date of the discovery was not specified; her account described it as recent during the January 2025 interview. “Timing’s everything,” she said, as reported by The Independent.
Why Perry gave her the cookie jar
The jar came from the Friends set and had a clock face. Kudrow recalled treating that face as if it were a working clock during a scene, which turned into a running joke between her and Perry. “It was so silly that it became a running joke between Matthew and me over the years,” she wrote in a first-person InStyle account.
Perry gave her the jar during the last week of filming as a wrap gift. Kudrow said he needed special permission to take it because set property belonged to Warner Bros. She later kept the jar in her office. In the January 2025 interview, she recalled, “Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode.”

What did Matthew Perry’s note say?
The available account does not disclose the note’s wording. Kudrow said she found it inside the jar, but neither the January 2025 report nor her earlier account supplies its text. There is no basis in those accounts to quote or infer its message.
The jar was already part of Kudrow’s recorded oral history
The Television Academy’s Lisa Kudrow oral-history catalog lists an interview conducted on December 22, 2012, with a segment about shooting the Friends finale and the cookie jar Perry gave her. That record establishes the gift was part of her account of the finale by 2012; it does not say when she found the note.
