Lili Reinhart says an unnamed male director once leaned over and told her, “Just suck in your stomach a little bit.” She recalled the comment in a Cosmopolitan Group Therapy interview published April 2, 2026; the published account does not identify the director or the production.
What Reinhart said
Cosmopolitan asked Reinhart to name an acting note she had taken personally during a Group Therapy conversation with her Forbidden Fruits co-stars Lola Tung, Alexandra Shipp, and Victoria Pedretti. Reinhart recalled that a male director leaned over and said, “Just suck in your stomach a little bit.” Cosmopolitan’s April 2, 2026, report presents this as her account of the exchange.
The interview was promoting Forbidden Fruits, but that does not establish that the comment was made during the film’s production. The director and the production connected to the anecdote are not named in the published account.
How Reinhart and Shipp responded to the story
In a separate report on the interview, The Independent said Reinhart did not think the director had bad intentions. She speculated that he may have been trying to spare her from later seeing an unflattering camera angle. That was Reinhart’s interpretation, not a confirmed explanation from the director.

Shipp pushed back on the premise that an actor should be responsible for changing their body to suit a shot. As The Independent quoted her, the director and director of photography should “find a flattering way to shoot you, not to make your body your problem.” Shipp was reacting to Reinhart’s account in the interview; the coverage does not say she witnessed the original exchange.

An E! News report from March 11, 2022 records an earlier public account by Reinhart. She wrote that a director had told her before a take to “suck in your stomach a bit,” and that she thought about the comment while filming. The available accounts do not establish whether the 2022 and 2026 descriptions refer to the same person or incident.
