In Rolling Stone’s April 17, 2025 profile, Lil Wayne discusses his collaborative approach to Tha Carter VI, his disappointment at not headlining the New Orleans Super Bowl LIX halftime show, and why being present for his children matters more to him now. The profile is reproduced by a Lil Wayne fan forum, so its statements are best treated as reporting attributed to Rolling Stone rather than as an independently verified primary copy.
What Wayne said about Tha Carter VI
Wayne describes recording as a continuing center of his life, including while he is traveling. The profile depicts an artist still absorbed in the work, and frames the sixth Tha Carter album as a collaborative project rather than a simple return to a familiar formula. The reproduced interview reports sessions with Wyclef Jean and other potential collaborators.
Wyclef estimated that they recorded around 30 tracks together. That is a count of their session material, not a confirmed number of songs on the album: the profile notes that some recorded material might not make the final release. Wyclef also praised Wayne as “one of the greatest renaissance wordsmith composers of our generation”; that is Wyclef’s assessment, not an objective ranking.
The interview identified Tha Carter VI as the sixth installment in Wayne’s album series and gave June 6, 2025, as its then-planned release date. That date is a statement from the 2025 interview, not confirmation of current availability, formats, or final track credits.

Why Wayne was upset about the Super Bowl halftime show
Wayne wanted the chance to perform at the Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans. After he was passed over, he said, “They stole that feeling. I don’t want to do it.” The quote captures Wayne’s reaction to the decision as represented in the interview; it does not explain why the NFL or show organizers selected a different performer. The profile supplies no independent account of the selection process.
How he describes fatherhood
The profile presents being a father as a heightened priority for Wayne, particularly the importance of showing up for his children as they grow. He explains the shift this way: “Now, it’s ‘Make sure you’re there at those vital ages.’” The remark is his personal account of how he thinks about parenting, rather than a broader claim about fatherhood.

What the profile says about Wayne’s career
The article also places the new album in the context of Wayne’s sustained recording career. It reports 187 Billboard Hot 100 appearances and 21 consecutive years with at least one Hot 100 appearance, saying a 2024 Tyler, the Creator feature extended the streak. These are figures reported in the 2025 profile, not independently verified current chart totals.
The article’s central portrait is of Wayne balancing an enduring drive to make music with more attention to family, while processing disappointment over a performance opportunity he wanted. The interview’s title and date are corroborated by a fan-maintained reference, which identifies it as an April 17, 2025, Rolling Stone piece by Andre Gee: the reference entry.
