What is Lifeforce?
Lifeforce is a 1985 film directed by Tobe Hooper and adapted from Colin Wilson’s novel The Space Vampires. The American Film Institute identifies it as a UK film. Its combination of science fiction, horror and the deliberately pulpy idea of vampires from space makes the title’s promise unusually literal.

The source novel is a natural companion for viewers curious about the story’s literary origins. AFI and Arrow identify Wilson’s The Space Vampires as the source, but that identification alone does not establish how the book’s plot compares with the film. AFI’s program entry and Arrow’s Blu-ray listing provide the source attribution.
How long is Lifeforce?
There are two runtimes to keep straight. Arrow’s Limited Edition 4K listing describes a 116-minute International Cut and a 101-minute Theatrical Cut—a 15-minute difference. AFI’s program lists the film at 116 minutes, which corresponds to the International Cut runtime in Arrow’s listing.

Which Lifeforce cut should you watch?
Choose based on the viewing experience you want, not an assumed consensus about which version is better. The International Cut is the longer option; the Theatrical Cut is 15 minutes shorter. The available listing confirms that both cuts are included in Arrow’s specified 4K edition, but it does not establish which cut is artistically preferable.
- Choose the International Cut if you want the longer presentation and are setting aside time for its 116-minute runtime.
- Choose the Theatrical Cut if you prefer the shorter 101-minute presentation.
- Undecided? If using the Arrow 4K edition, you can choose between the two restorations rather than treating one runtime as the only version.
Where can you find Lifeforce on 4K Blu-ray?
Arrow’s Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD listing describes restorations of both the 116-minute International Cut and the 101-minute Theatrical Cut. Check that exact release page and the details of the edition offered by a seller before buying. The listing cited here does not establish current stock, price, or region compatibility, and it is not evidence of streaming availability.
