Liberace’s exact net worth is not established by the available records. Contemporary reports in 1988 estimated his estate at between $10 million and $15 million, but those figures were estimates—not an itemized or audited statement of his personal wealth.

How much was Liberace worth when he died?

The best-supported answer is that Liberace’s estate was estimated at roughly $10 million to $15 million in 1988. Two UPI reports gave slightly different ranges: one said court proceedings placed the estate at $11 million to $15 million; another attributed an estimate of $10 million to $15 million to Foundation lawyers. Read these as contemporary estimates of the estate, not as a definitive net-worth calculation.

The difference between the reports matters. They do not establish one exact total, and the 1987 report on Liberace’s will said it did not itemize his property or state its value. The December 1988 UPI report described the $11 million to $15 million estimate as coming from court proceedings. The April 1988 UPI report gave the alternate range and attributed it to Foundation lawyers.

What happened to Liberace’s estate?

A Los Angeles Times report on the will said Liberace left his property to a trust, with the Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts as its main beneficiary. The report also noted that the will did not list the property or assign it a value. Attorney Joel Strote said, “The bulk of his estate will go to the Liberace Foundation for the Performing and Creative Arts because of his love for enhancing students’ lives.”

How the Foundation’s collection and money fit in

The Foundation says Liberace endowed it with costumes, automobiles, antiques, art, jewelry, and about $4 million in cash. It also reports that scholarships and grants exceeded $6 million before its endowment fund sunset in 2011. Those figures describe charitable assets and distributions; they do not provide a separate calculation of Liberace’s net worth.

The Nevada State Museum describes a collection that includes costumes, pianos, automobiles, antiques, art, jewelry, awards, and intellectual property. The Foundation says it owns Liberace’s intellectual property and licenses it to support its work. A collection held by an institution and income from licensing are not the same thing as Liberace’s personal wealth at death.

Why the Foundation’s later finances are not a net-worth figure

The Foundation’s retrospective account says it and its museum were bankrupt at the close of 2013 after distributing more than $6 million in scholarships and then facing lost income and debt. That institutional history is separate from the estimated value of Liberace’s estate in 1988. It does not establish what Liberace was worth when he died or what his estate would be worth today.

There is no source-supported basis here for converting the reported estate estimates into a current value or for treating a much larger figure sometimes repeated online as established fact. The grounded answer remains a 1988 estate estimate of $10 million to $15 million, with no exact itemized valuation in the cited will report.
