Celebrity Net Worth lists Gillian Anderson’s net worth at $40 million, but that is the site’s estimate—not a verified disclosure of her assets. The site says its figures are estimates unless otherwise indicated, and the sources reviewed do not establish Anderson’s current assets, debts, or the calculation behind this particular figure.
How much is Gillian Anderson worth?
Celebrity Net Worth displayed a $40 million estimate when checked in 2026. Its page explains that net-worth figures are estimates unless otherwise indicated and may draw on public sources as well as private tips or feedback. It does not provide a specific calculation or an independently verified balance sheet for Anderson. Celebrity Net Worth’s Gillian Anderson estimate and caveat

That makes $40 million a reported media estimate, not a confirmed amount or a figure Anderson has publicly endorsed. The sources reviewed do not establish her current property, investments, liabilities, or other assets, so her net worth cannot be independently verified from them.
What is known about her earnings?
A 1999 UK Cable Guide profile reported that Anderson earned around $100,000 per episode and received a further $4 million for the first X-Files film. These are historical compensation figures reported at the time; they do not show current income, lifetime earnings, or how much she retained after taxes, expenses, and other obligations. The same profile described Anderson and David Duchovny as then being paid almost equally. Anderson said, “It was fair, to begin with, that there was a difference – but no longer,” and argued that the film would not have been made, in her view, if they had not been paid equally.
Anderson’s public account of pay inequality
In a 2017 Washington Post interview, Anderson said she had been offered less than half of a co-worker’s pay on both the original X-Files series and its reboot. She explained why she spoke out: “I started to become vocal about it because of my own experience working in the industry and being offered less than 50 percent of what a co-worker was, first in the original ‘X Files’ series, then in the reboot. I decided to speak out.” Washington Post interview transcript, archived on Anderson’s official website
That account adds context to her career and compensation history, but it does not verify a present-day net-worth figure.
