The January 2025 announcement did not state a cause of death. On February 15, 2025, Soap Opera Network reported, citing a Los Angeles County Medical Examiner report, that the cause was “sequelae of blunt head trauma” and the manner was classified as an accident. This is a later reported finding, not a detail provided in the initial announcement.

In the statement reported by ABC News, Valentini called Charleson his “dear friend and colleague” and said her legacy on the show had spanned nearly 50 years. He also described Monica as “the heart of the Quartermaines” and Charleson as “a beloved matriarch of the entire cast and crew.” The Los Angeles Times quoted him saying he would miss their daily chats, her quick wit and her presence on set.
