LEGO’s Formula 1 partnership is not one car in one box. It is a broad product family spanning preschool DUPLO play, LEGO City pit-lane action, Speed Champions team cars, mystery-box collectibles, large Technic replicas, and a historic LEGO Icons model.
The range began rolling out for the 2025 F1 season and was designed to reach children, families, adult builders, collectors, and racing fans. The most impressive display pieces are the 1:8-scale Ferrari SF-24, Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20, and McLaren MCL39, while the Williams FW14B gives the collection a strong link to F1 history.
A full LEGO F1 ecosystem, not a single release
LEGO and Formula 1 announced their multi-year partnership on September 18, 2024, with products scheduled to arrive alongside the 2025 season. The launch plan covered all ten teams represented on the grid at the time of the announcement and included products for several age groups and building styles.
That timing matters. This is best understood as the 2025 LEGO F1 range and its continuing product family, not as a collection in which every model represents a 2026 car. The range includes cars from different seasons: the Technic Ferrari is the SF-24, the Red Bull is the RB20, and the McLaren is the MCL39 from the 2025 season.

The standout adult builds
The three most technically ambitious current-car models are the LEGO Technic Ferrari SF-24 42207, LEGO Technic Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20 42206, and LEGO Technic McLaren MCL39 42228. Each is presented at 1:8 scale, and the US LEGO product pages listed all three at $229.99 at the time of research. That shared price makes team preference, season represented, mechanical features, and display appeal more important than a simple price comparison.
LEGO Technic Ferrari SF-24 42207
Launched on March 1, 2025, the Ferrari SF-24 contains 1,361 pieces and is aimed at adult builders. Its functions include a V6 engine with a spinning MGU-H, a two-speed gearbox, front and rear suspension, adjustable DRS, and Pirelli-printed slick tires.
It is the clearest choice for a fan who wants the visual impact of Scuderia Ferrari’s red livery. Mechanically, it is also a substantial model rather than a static shell: the moving power-unit details, transmission, suspension, and adjustable rear-wing system give the build an engineering focus.
LEGO Technic Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20 42206
The RB20 contains 1,639 pieces, making it larger by piece count than the Ferrari model. LEGO lists working steering, a V6 engine block with moving pistons and a spinning MGU-H, a two-speed gearbox, push- and pull-rod suspension, an adjustable rear spoiler/DRS, and printed tires.
This is the natural pick for Red Bull supporters and for builders who want a prominent mechanical display model associated with the team’s championship-era identity. It should not, however, be described as a 2026 car: the model is specifically the RB20.
LEGO Technic McLaren MCL39 42228
The McLaren MCL39 is another 1:8-scale adult model, with 1,675 pieces. LEGO describes it as McLaren’s 2025 FIA Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship-winning car. Its listed functions include steering, suspension, a differential, a V6 engine, a two-speed gearbox, and DRS activation.

- FERRARI F1 TOY CAR – Boys and girls ages 10 and up and Ferrari fans can build, display and race the LEGO Speed Champions Ferrari SF-24 F1 Race Car and driver set
- 1 DRIVER MINIFIGURE – This vehicle set includes a driver minifigure wearing a special Ferrari outfit and a winged helmet for kids to place inside the cockpit and role-play thrilling race action
- AUTHENTIC DETAILS – F1 race car with design details from the real-life 2024 version, including a rear wing, a halo bar, sponsor stickers and wider rear tires imprinted with “Pirelli”
- F1 FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY – Race for the checkered flag alongside the whole family with other building sets (sold separately) in the LEGO F1 range
- BUILD & DISPLAY – After kids have enjoyed playing out racing stories with the Ferrari F1 toy, they can display it on a shelf or bedside table
For readers who want the most recent championship storyline represented in the range, the MCL39 has the strongest narrative. It is also useful to compare it carefully with the Ferrari and Red Bull: these are not three versions of the same season’s car, but models from different points in F1’s recent timeline.

How the three Technic cars differ
| Set | Season or identity | Pieces | Notable functions | US list price at research time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ferrari SF-24 42207 | Ferrari’s SF-24 | 1,361 | V6 engine, spinning MGU-H, two-speed gearbox, suspension, adjustable DRS | $229.99 |
| Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20 42206 | Red Bull’s RB20 | 1,639 | Moving pistons, spinning MGU-H, steering, two-speed gearbox, push- and pull-rod suspension, adjustable DRS | $229.99 |
| McLaren MCL39 42228 | McLaren’s 2025 car | 1,675 | Steering, suspension, differential, V6 engine, two-speed gearbox, DRS activation | $229.99 |
The specifications describe LEGO’s product features, not independent performance testing. They also do not establish that one model is mechanically superior to another. The practical decision is mostly about team loyalty, the season or story attached to the car, and whether the model’s scale and functions suit the intended display.
The historic icon: Williams FW14B & Nigel Mansell
LEGO Icons Williams Racing FW14B & Nigel Mansell 10353 takes the range away from current-team replicas and into F1 heritage. It focuses on the 1992 Williams FW14B and its driver, Nigel Mansell.
That makes it a different kind of collectible from the Ferrari, Red Bull, and McLaren Technic cars. The current-car models are about recent teams and modern racing technology; the Williams set is about a memorable car, a famous driver, and the visual language of classic Formula 1. It is therefore the strongest option for a collector who values history, driver memorabilia, or a display piece with a story that extends beyond the current grid.
It should not be presented as a current-season car or folded into a list of contemporary team replicas. Its appeal is precisely that it preserves a significant earlier chapter of F1.

For a lower-cost entry point, LEGO F1 Collectible Race Cars 71049 is the most straightforward choice. It is a mystery-box series for ages 6 and up. Each box contains one 29-piece mini car, with moving wheels and an F1 helmet in the cockpit.
The complete assortment contains 12 cars: ten team cars, one F1 car, and one F1 Academy car. The team selection comprises RB20, Mercedes-AMG, Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin, Alpine, Williams, VCARB, Sauber, and Haas.
Rank #3
- BUILD AN F1 RACING FLEET – Kids ages 6 and up can experience the thrill of the race track with a set of 6 mini LEGO F1 race car building sets
- 6 OF 12 TOY CARS – This mystery box contains a random assortment of 6 collectible toy cars, and may include the RB20, Mercedes-AMG, Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin, Alpine, Williams, VCARB, Sauber, Haas, F1 car or F1 ACADEMY car
- AUTHENTIC RACING DETAILS - Each LEGO car is decked out with F1 team colors, with team logos, a team helmet in the cockpit and moving wheels so F1 fans can stage exciting races
- INSPIRE CREATIVE PLAY – Boys and girls can dream up fast-paced action and enjoy hours of independent play
- GIFT IDEA FOR FORMULA 1 FANS – This limited-time, 6 car set makes a wonderful birthday gift for boys and girls and is a fun addition to a racing fan's car collection
The important limitation is the randomized format. A single box does not guarantee a particular team or car. That makes the product appealing for the surprise and the collecting challenge, but less suitable when a child or fan specifically wants Ferrari, McLaren, or another individual team. The US LEGO listing showed a $4.99 price per mystery box and a sold-out status during the research period; retailer stock and later LEGO availability may differ.
Because the cars are small and relatively inexpensive compared with the Technic models, 71049 works well as a gift, a first LEGO F1 purchase, or a way to represent more of the grid without committing to several large display builds.

DUPLO F1 Team Race Cars & Drivers 10445
LEGO DUPLO F1 Team Race Cars & Drivers 10445 is designed for ages 2 and up. It includes ten buildable team-colored cars, three driver bricks, a crane, starting lights, and a podium.
This is not a miniature adult Technic replica. Its purpose is open-ended, hands-on play: children can sort and match colors, stage races, move cars through a simple pit or podium scenario, and practice handling large pieces. LEGO positions the set around imaginative play, spatial reasoning, and fine-motor development, with family interaction built into the race-day theme.
For a toddler or preschooler, the large DUPLO format and play features are more relevant than exact aerodynamic details. It is the broadest family introduction to the partnership because it represents the teams as a group rather than asking a young child to choose one technically accurate car.
LEGO City F1 Pit Stop & Pit Crew with Ferrari Car 60443
LEGO City F1 Pit Stop & Pit Crew with Ferrari Car 60443 takes a more specific role-play approach. LEGO’s US car-gift page highlights the set as an F1 pit-stop and pit-crew concept with a Ferrari car.
That difference makes it a good fit for children who enjoy the activity around the race as much as the car itself. A pit stop gives them a setting for crew roles, repairs, starting and stopping, and race storytelling. It sits between the simple, team-wide DUPLO playset and the more display-oriented Speed Champions models.

Speed Champions: the smaller team-car route
Speed Champions provides the middle ground in the range: more detailed and vehicle-focused than DUPLO or City playsets, but generally more approachable than the large Technic cars. LEGO and Formula 1 described the 2025 rollout as a range spanning the teams, giving younger builders and fans a way to build smaller F1 cars.
The official F1/LEGO shop has highlighted products including:
- McLaren F1 Team MCL38 Race Car;
- F1 Academy Race Car;
- APXGP Team Race Car from F1: The Movie;
- F1 Display Truck with Audi F1 Race Car; and
- Williams Racing & Haas F1 Race Cars.
These products are especially useful for fans who want a named team, a smaller footprint, or a build that can be played with as well as displayed. The inclusion of the F1 Academy and the fictional APXGP team also means the Speed Champions portion is broader than a simple collection of ten current constructors.

| If the recipient wants… | Start with… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A first F1 toy for a toddler or preschooler | DUPLO 10445 | Large pieces, ten team-colored cars, and simple race-day play |
| Pit-lane role-play | City 60443 | The pit stop and crew provide a clear play scenario |
| A small, affordable surprise gift | Collectible Race Cars 71049 | One 29-piece car per box, with a 12-car assortment |
| A particular modern team in a manageable build | Speed Champions | Smaller team-focused cars with more visual detail |
| A large technical build | Technic 42207, 42206, or 42228 | 1:8-scale presentation and working mechanical features |
| Classic F1 and driver history | Icons 10353 | Williams FW14B and Nigel Mansell rather than a current car |
Choose by team allegiance
- Ferrari: Choose the Technic SF-24 42207 for the large modern-car build, or City 60443 for a younger Ferrari fan.
- Red Bull: The Technic RB20 42206 is the major Red Bull display model, while the collectible series includes an RB20 mini car among the possible boxes.
- McLaren: The Technic MCL39 42228 represents McLaren’s 2025 car, while Speed Champions offers the smaller MCL38 Race Car.
- Williams and classic F1: The Icons FW14B & Nigel Mansell 10353 is the heritage-focused choice; Williams also appears in the smaller-scale products.
- No single team preference: DUPLO 10445 represents all ten teams through team-colored cars, and 71049 offers the possibility of collecting the wider assortment.
Choose by space and commitment
The Technic models are display-oriented 1:8-scale builds, so they require substantially more shelf space than a collectible car or a Speed Champions model. Their size is part of the appeal, but buyers should consider the eventual display location before choosing one. The 71049 cars are the easiest to store and collect, while DUPLO and City are designed around active play rather than a permanent adult display.
What makes the collection notable?
The interesting feature of LEGO’s F1 partnership is its range of entry points. A preschool child can race ten large DUPLO cars; an older child can stage a Ferrari pit stop; a fan can collect small randomized cars; a builder can choose a specific team through Speed Champions; and an adult can spend time constructing a functioning 1:8-scale replica.

The collection also moves across time. The Ferrari SF-24 and Red Bull RB20 represent recent cars, the McLaren MCL39 connects to the 2025 constructors’ championship, and the Williams FW14B preserves a classic F1 memory. That combination gives the range more depth than a single wave of interchangeable race-car toys.

The partnership announcement’s ten-team statement applied to the grid at the time of the September 2024 announcement. It should not automatically be rewritten as a claim about all current 2026 teams. Likewise, LEGO’s prices and stock labels are market- and date-specific, and the collectible boxes are randomized rather than team-selectable.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a LEGO 2026 Formula 1 range?
It is more accurate to call it the 2025 LEGO F1 range and its continuing product family. The partnership launched around the 2025 season, and the products represent different cars and eras rather than all being replicas of 2026 cars.
Which LEGO F1 set is best for adults?
The Technic Ferrari SF-24 42207, Oracle Red Bull Racing RB20 42206, and McLaren MCL39 42228 are the main large adult builds. All are 1:8-scale models with mechanical features; the best choice depends primarily on team preference and the car or season represented.
Does every LEGO F1 Collectible Race Cars 71049 box contain a different team?
No. Each box contains one randomized 29-piece car, so buying one does not guarantee a particular team. The complete assortment contains 12 cars, including ten team cars, an F1 car, and an F1 Academy car.

DUPLO F1 Team Race Cars & Drivers 10445 is designed for ages 2 and up. It includes ten large team-colored cars and simple race-day accessories such as starting lights and a podium.
The Bottom Line
LEGO’s F1 range has an option for almost every kind of fan: DUPLO for first race stories, City for pit-stop play, Speed Champions for smaller team cars, 71049 for low-cost collecting, Technic for detailed adult builds, and the Williams FW14B for classic-F1 nostalgia. The most important buying distinction is not simply which car looks fastest—it is whether the recipient wants play, collecting, modern team identity, mechanical building, or racing history.
