Buckets, a chicken and comfort-food restaurant inside House Three Thirty in Akron, opened to the public on April 1, 2026, according to contemporary local coverage. It is a restaurant and a hands-on workforce-training project tied to the LeBron James Family Foundation’s I Promise work.
Where is Buckets, and when did it open?
Buckets is at House Three Thirty, 532 W. Market Street, Akron, Ohio. Local coverage reported that the restaurant opened to the public on April 1, 2026; Nation’s Restaurant News reported on the opening on April 8.
House Three Thirty is a former Akron landmark that the LeBron James Family Foundation transformed into a community facility. In its December 2020 announcement, the Foundation described plans for job training, financial-health services, community space, and family programming. The organizations named in that historical announcement were connected to planned facility elements; it does not establish that they are current Buckets sponsors.
What does Buckets serve?
The menu centers on fried and roasted chicken, alongside wings, burgers, sandwiches, salads, comfort-food sides, and desserts. Akron Life’s May 20, 2026 feature described ten wing varieties, a smash burger, fried Brussels sprouts, mac and cheese, and a chocolate chip cookie sundae.

How the fried chicken is prepared
Akron Life reported that Buckets’ fried chicken is first held in a pickle brine for 24 hours, then given a buttermilk brine, floured and fried, and finished with honey dust and salt. The preparation is attributed to the restaurant’s kitchen.

Akron Life listed Be Best fried chicken at $18.23 and the Akron Hammer burger at $16.23 in its May 20, 2026 feature. These are dated menu examples, not guaranteed current prices. Check the official Buckets website for its current menu and ordering options.
How the restaurant connects to I Promise
Buckets is also described as a training venue for young people involved with the Foundation’s I Promise Program. Executive director Michele Campbell told Nation’s Restaurant News that participants contribute across the operation: “The whole I Promise world is coming together to run this restaurant, from developing the recipes to serving to greeting to planning our entertainment,”
Akron Life reported about 50 jobs associated with Buckets in its May 20, 2026 story, which profiled family members working in front-of-house roles and in the kitchen. The feature said many employees were working in a restaurant for the first time. Campbell told the magazine, “We want them to learn life skills,”

The job figure and staff profiles describe the restaurant at the time of that report; they do not establish long-term employment or other outcomes. Nation’s Restaurant News separately reported that the I Promise Program serves more than 1,500 local students and their families. That figure describes the program, not Buckets’ workforce or impact.
What James has said about the restaurant
In a statement reported by Nation’s Restaurant News, LeBron James said: “I’ve been to restaurants in cities all over the world. This one is different. When I learned what Buckets was about and all the details that go into the experience, I couldn’t wait to share it.”

Buckets is not James’ first connection to the restaurant business: Nation’s Restaurant News notes his earlier McDonald’s brand ambassadorship and investment in Blaze Pizza. The significance of this opening is that the Foundation’s project brings a full-service restaurant and its training role to House Three Thirty.
