The episode was scheduled to air on NBC on January 23, 2025; the preview is a dated look at that broadcast, not a current-season announcement.
Which ‘ER’ stars reunite in ‘Greater Good’?
Tierney plays Lt. Jessica Brady, a series regular on Law & Order. Phifer guest-stars as Lyman Ross, a man charged with murder. La Salle, who played Dr. Peter Benton on ER, is behind the camera as the episode’s director. TV Insider’s January 22, 2025 feature describes the pairing as a reunion.
| Actor | ‘ER’ role | Reported tenure | ‘Law & Order’ Season 24, Episode 11 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maura Tierney | Abby Lockhart | Ten seasons | Lt. Jessica Brady |
| Mekhi Phifer | Dr. Greg Pratt | Eight seasons | Lyman Ross, guest role |
| Eriq La Salle | Dr. Peter Benton | Eight seasons | Director |
The season counts are reported role tenures, not audience figures. Tierney described her time on ER as bridging cast eras in a reflection quoted by TV Insider: “I was sort of a bridge between the original crew [and the new one on ER]. I was there when a lot of them left, and then a lot of people came on. We’re all still friends, and we had a blast doing that show.”
What happens in the promo?
The short promotional exchange centers on Brady questioning Ross about his daughter. Brady says, “Your daughter was getting pimped out by him.” Ross responds, “That bastard got what he deserved.” ADA Nolan Price counters, “you don’t get to kill someone because he is vile.” The exchange frames the episode’s tension: whether outrage at the victim can explain the killing, and whether it can influence the case.

What does the sneak peek show?
The separate sneak peek takes place at Ross’s arraignment. He pleads not guilty to second-degree murder. ADA Maroun argues he should be held without bail, pointing to a gun with matching ballistics, Ross’s DNA and fingerprints, and video that places him near the crime scene. Defense attorney Harris argues Ross is unlikely to flee because he has local ties, a job, and children.
The arraignment clip is distinct from the promo’s interrogation and courtroom dialogue. It focuses on the early procedural question of bail, rather than resolving the case or establishing a verdict.

What is the episode about?
“Greater Good” follows the murder of a music mogul. Detectives Shaw and Riley clash with an uncooperative undercover officer, while prosecutors Price and Baxter debate whether the victim’s reputation could sway a jury. That conflict gives the episode its central legal dilemma: the victim’s conduct may shape how jurors view the case, but it does not by itself determine whether the defendant is guilty.
