If Larix Broadcaster keeps disconnecting from YouTube, first find out whether Larix lost its publishing connection, YouTube stopped receiving the feed, or viewers alone are having playback trouble. Then check the stream URL and key, test upload stability, inspect encoder health, and review Larix’s reconnect settings. No single setting fixes every drop: the cause may be the app, phone, network, or YouTube ingest.
First identify what is disconnecting
Run a short private or unlisted test stream and watch Larix and YouTube Live Control Room at the same time. Note the exact time and what each reports. YouTube advises checking encoder output and then the outbound connection when diagnosing a stream problem (YouTube streaming troubleshooting).
- Larix says it disconnected or is reconnecting: check its publishing configuration, app state, and network path.
- Larix appears to be publishing, but Live Control Room shows stream-health or incoming-bitrate trouble: investigate encoder output and upload stability.
- Both show a healthy incoming stream, but viewers report a drop: distinguish playback trouble from a publishing disconnect before changing encoder settings.
The title alone does not establish your phone model, operating system, Larix version, network, or error message, so use these observations to choose the next step rather than assuming one cause.
Verify the YouTube server URL and stream key
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and copy the current server URL and stream key from the stream’s settings.
- In Larix Broadcaster, open the connection configuration and enter those values exactly. Softvelum describes the Larix connection URL as the server URL combined with the stream name or key (Softvelum Larix documentation).
- Save the connection and start another short test. If the encoder will not start, YouTube advises obtaining a new stream key and updating the encoder configuration (YouTube: set up your encoder).
Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it, include it in a screenshot, or paste it into a public support post.

Test upload capacity and stability at the streaming location
Measure upload speed on the same phone and network, as close as practical to the place and time you stream. Download speed does not tell you whether the uplink can sustain a live video feed. Compare available upload capacity with the stream’s total bitrate and other traffic using the connection. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom; that is a recommendation, not a guarantee that a mobile connection will remain stable (YouTube streaming tips).
- If upload speed fluctuates, test on a more stable available network or at a different location.
- If the connection cannot sustain the stream, reduce bitrate and, if needed, resolution, then retest.
- Account for other devices or applications using the same connection; the stream needs capacity beyond its own bitrate.
YouTube’s recommended bitrate depends on resolution, frame rate, and codec. For example, its guidance lists 720p at 30 fps with a range from 2 Mbps to 6 Mbps depending on codec. Use the setting table for your actual format rather than treating one bitrate as universal (YouTube encoder settings).

Check Larix, the phone, and encoder output
- Update Larix Broadcaster to a current version for your platform.
- Check the image and audio in Larix’s local preview or recording, if available. If they are already poor or interrupted locally, address the phone or encoder before blaming YouTube ingest.
- Look for encoder errors or unusually high device load. YouTube recommends checking encoder CPU load, errors, and a local archive where available (YouTube streaming troubleshooting).
- If the phone appears overloaded, simplify the video settings and run another test. If local output is healthy but the live connection still drops, focus next on the outbound network path and Live Control Room’s stream-health messages.
Review Larix reconnect settings
Softvelum’s FAQ places Advanced settings under Settings > Connections. It describes Reconnect timeout as the wait before Larix tries to connect again. The FAQ also documents Don’t check network presence, which changes attempts when the network is unavailable or briefly goes offline. On iOS, it describes additional controls for reconnect timeout without network, idle timeout, and an unsent-data threshold (Softvelum Larix FAQ).
Menu names and available controls can differ by platform and app version. Change only the option that matches the observed failure, then test. Reconnect settings govern retry behavior; they cannot make a persistently weak uplink reliable.

Confirm the ingest protocol and check YouTube stream health
YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion. Verify that the server URL and selected protocol are correct for the Larix connection you configured before changing protocols (YouTube streaming tips). During a test stream, use Live Control Room’s messages and stream-health indicators to see whether the feed is arriving steadily. Switching protocol is not established as a universal fix for disconnects.
