Neither Larix Broadcaster nor Larix Screencaster is documented as a player for prerecorded video files. Broadcaster is for streaming live camera footage from a mobile device; Screencaster is for streaming a live phone or tablet screen. If you want a video file to play as a YouTube livestream, you need a file-playout and live-encoding workflow instead.

The practical distinction is the source being captured: Broadcaster sends camera video, while Screencaster sends screen content. Neither is documented here as a prerecorded-file playout tool.
Why scheduling a YouTube event does not play your video
YouTube separates the scheduled event from the encoder’s outgoing signal. Scheduling creates the event in Live Control Room; an encoder or playout system still has to send the video and audio. YouTube’s encoder instructions say to enter the YouTube Live server URL and stream key in the encoder. For a scheduled stream, connect and start the encoder at the scheduled time, wait for the preview, then select Go live. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Schedule the event in YouTube Live Control Room.
- In the system that will produce the stream, enter the YouTube Live server URL and stream key.
- At the scheduled time, connect and start that system’s encoder.
- Check that the preview appears in YouTube, then select Go live.
These steps explain YouTube’s general encoder workflow, not how to make either Larix app play a local file. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived.

Choose a workflow that matches the source
If you are broadcasting live from a phone camera
Larix Broadcaster is the documented fit of the two. Its described role is live mobile capture, with YouTube Live among its listed destinations. It is not the documented choice for replaying a stored recording.
If you are broadcasting a live phone or tablet screen
Larix Screencaster matches that source. On iOS, Softvelum says screen streaming can use the microphone; audio from an app is available only when that app supports ReplayKit. This is an iOS-specific constraint, not a blanket statement about Android. Check the current listing for your device because platform capabilities and store terms can change.

If you want to replay a video file as a scheduled livestream
Use a workflow that can play the file and encode its output for YouTube. YouTube Help lists OBS as recording and live-streaming software, but that Help page alone does not establish a complete local-file playlist procedure. Test your chosen playback and encoder setup before relying on it for a scheduled event.
If you want continuous prerecorded-video streaming
YouTube Help names Gyre as a cloud option for continuous prerecorded-video streams. Confirm its current formats and operating terms directly before choosing it; YouTube’s mention does not establish those details.

- The current iOS App Store listing describes Screencaster for iPhone and iPad and says Premium removes a five-minute streaming limit. Check the listing for your device and region for current terms.
- The Google Play Screencaster listing describes Android screen streaming and showed an update date of August 24, 2026. Store details and capabilities may change.
- The Google Play Broadcaster listing describes live mobile capture and YouTube Live, but its Premium pricing and feature limits are volatile. Check the current listing in your region rather than relying on an old price or limit.
