Then compare Larix’s camera preview with the preview in YouTube Live Control Room. A black local preview points to Larix’s capture state, camera selection, or video mode; a working local preview but black YouTube preview points instead to the encoder connection or YouTube’s live setup.
1. Check whether Larix is paused
During the broadcast, check Larix’s pause control and make sure the stream has not entered pause or stand-by. Softvelum’s Larix Broadcaster for Android documentation explains that pause keeps the stream connected while its video track displays black and its audio track is silent: “Video track will contain a black screen while audio track will contain silence.” Stand-by behaves differently: it waits to start with camera imagery.
If the stream is paused, resume it and check whether the image returns. Don’t treat a connected stream as proof that video is being sent; pause can leave the connection active while the picture is black.
2. Compare Larix’s preview with YouTube’s
Look at Larix’s own camera preview, then check the preview in YouTube Live Control Room. This comparison separates a capture problem from a delivery or YouTube setup problem; it is a diagnostic guide, not a guaranteed identification of the cause.

- Larix preview is black: Start with Larix’s pause or stand-by state, camera selection, video mode, and Android camera access.
- Larix preview shows video but YouTube’s is black: Check the connection URL and stream key, encoder status, and YouTube’s preview and Go live sequence.
3. If Larix’s own preview is black
Confirm video is enabled for the connection
Larix supports video-plus-audio, video-only, and audio-only capture modes. Verify the mode selected for this connection rather than assuming that video is enabled. For a YouTube connection, Softvelum’s Larix setup reference says to use video-plus-audio mode.
Check the selected camera
Confirm that Larix has selected the intended front or back camera. Switch cameras once and see whether the preview changes. Larix supports front/back camera switching; Android multi-camera selection is available on supported versions, so its availability depends on the version and device.

Check Android camera access
Make sure Larix has permission to use the camera in Android’s app permissions. If you change permission or camera settings, return to Larix and check its preview again. The cited official documentation does not identify one phone-specific cause for every black-screen report, so note your device and app details if these checks do not resolve it.
4. If Larix shows video but YouTube does not
Verify the current YouTube server URL and stream key
YouTube encoder setup uses the server URL and stream key shown in your own YouTube Studio. Check them in Live Control Room and compare them with Larix’s connection settings. Larix’s setup reference explains that the server URL and stream name/key are combined for the connection URL. Use the current values from your account rather than an old saved key or URL, and never publish or share your stream key.

Follow YouTube’s preview and Go live sequence
For a scheduled stream, YouTube’s encoder setup instructions say to start the encoder, wait for the Live Control Room preview, then click Go live. If Larix shows a camera image but the YouTube preview remains black, investigate the encoder connection and YouTube’s live state before changing camera hardware.
5. If the screen is still black
Before asking for help, record the details that distinguish a local capture problem from a delivery problem:

The official sources describe Larix’s controls and YouTube’s encoder setup, but they do not establish one universal cause or fix for every Android device.
