Who plays John Stewart in the HBO Green Lantern series?
Aaron Pierre portrays John Stewart in Lanterns, the official title of the HBO original drama based on DC’s Green Lantern comic property. HBO Max’s March 5, 2026 teaser announcement identifies Pierre as Stewart and describes him as an intergalactic cop recruit. Warner Bros. Discovery’s production announcement and HBO Max’s teaser release confirm the casting.
Who else is in the Lanterns cast?
Kyle Chandler plays Hal Jordan, described in the teaser announcement as a Lantern legend. The series pairs Jordan and Stewart as its central duo; Pierre is not the only Lantern in the story.
The principal cast announced by Warner Bros. Discovery also includes Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen. The announcement names the actors but does not specify their characters in the cited cast list.

What is Lanterns about?
The announced premise brings the superhero setting to an Earth-based crime mystery: Stewart and Jordan investigate a murder in the American heartland. Warner Bros. Discovery describes them as two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery. That framing makes the series both a Green Lantern story and a terrestrial investigation.
When did Lanterns premiere?
DC’s July 29, 2026 overview gave Lanterns an August 16 premiere date on HBO Max. That date has passed; the overview does not establish current availability in every country or on every platform. Check the service available in your region for present-day viewing options. DC’s series overview provides the announced date.
