Lady Gaga has spoken about wanting children for more than a decade. In interviews from 2012 through 2025, she described motherhood as part of the future she hoped to build, including with partner Michael Polansky. In September 2026, outlets reported that the couple had a child, but the initial reports said her representatives had not confirmed the news.
What Lady Gaga has said about having children
2012: A playful wish, with an important qualification
In a preview of her conversation with Oprah Winfrey, Gaga said, “I want kids, I want a soccer team and I want a husband,” ABC News reported. She clarified that she did not literally want a soccer team and would be thrilled with “a few.” She also said she wanted to experience pregnancy, while making clear she was not ready to have a child at that point. 2020: Looking forward to motherhood
In her InStyle cover interview, Gaga said, “I will say I am very excited to have kids,” and added, “I look forward to being a mom,” according to ABC News. ABC News

The distinction matters: Gaga’s interviews establish her longstanding hopes for motherhood, while the 2026 accounts are media reports about her private life. The early coverage noted no confirmation from her representatives. The reports do not establish how the child was born or other private family circumstances.
