The couple had won a listener competition for “The Wedding Perth Built,” with listeners voting on details. The report described plans for the ceremony; it did not confirm that the wedding ultimately took place as announced.
How Cahill became the couple’s celebrant
PerthNow identified Cahill as one half of Mix 94.5’s Pete & Kymba breakfast show. In the report, she said she had become an authorised marriage celebrant more than a year earlier, after completing standard celebrant training and registering with the Attorney-General.
“I am a celebrant. I am an authorised marriage celebrant. I became authorised over a year ago and I have just been keeping it a secret.”
PerthNow also quoted Cahill explaining: “I did the standard legal celebrant training. I did the course and registered with the attorney-general so I am ready to go.” These statements describe what Cahill told the outlet in 2023; they do not establish her current celebrant status.

Why Lizzie and Dylan chose an unconventional wedding
The couple were selected after winning a listener competition. Dylan told PerthNow that a less conventional ceremony suited them: “I think anyone that knows us knows that we are a little left-of-field. Nothing against those weddings, I just don’t think they were for us.”
Lizzie said they were willing to trust the listeners’ choices: “We just decided that we will give this a go and we will trust you guys. At least we’ll know it’s going to be unique.”
